Last night I put in the longer cobra shifter to see how it looked.

It's close to the dash while in park. I semi sanded the stick and cleared it. I think it would look better covered in grey leather.

I built some brass bushings for the tall shifter yesterday. The first reason was because there is not much metal to thread for the set screw since it was built out of conduit. The second reason is because the stick is 1/2" diameter and the conduit is almost 1". I didn't take pictures. The excuse is that I was doing this during my down time sanding on the bumpers on the Ranch-E-roo project. I used a 1/4" brass pipe union, drilled the inside, where the threads are, using a 1/2" drill. Took a rat tail file and worked it so it would slide over the stick. I then used a metal file and filed the outside to fit snug in the conduit. Once that was done, I drilled two holes for the set screws and cut it in half so I would have 2 bushings. Tapped them for the 8-32 screws and slid them into the conduit. Started the screws to hold them in place and slid the assembly with the inner rod for the button on top, adjusted the height and tightened the screws.

If anyone likes this enough to build your own and you have questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
