In regards to the new house, it has been a non-stop adventure so far... We moved in on Feb 22... that night learned the hard way that the washing machine was a dud...
23: ordered the new washer and dryer....
26: Washer and dryer delivered and started doing countless loads of laundry built up...
28: We learn that the drain pipe for the washing machine has been broken in 2 parts for ??? years, thus dumping all the drain water into the floor boards, the wall between the dining room and laundry room, and being a mobile home, it also dumped into the "belly bag" underneath, which holds up all the insulation, causing it to rupture and dump the insulation on the ground in that area. We also discovered that weekend(after pulling up all the flooring to assess the damage) that numerous repairs had been made in the past in the same areas.
March 7: We removed and replaced sections of subfloor and began laying new flooring.
March 10: Finished getting the flooring laid at about midnight.
Now we need to find a decent price on a plumber that will replace the older water supply system(known as Poly B)(we knew about this before the purchase) then find someone to replace the damaged insulation and repair the belly bag.
I know anyone reading this will ask " why not go after the seller?".... we started to look at that and got as far as the sellers real estate agent telling us "you should have sent in your own person to make sure the repairs were done properly!" We knew thru the home inspection that there was/had been a leak in that area, and part of the sale was they had to fix it. They had someone go under the house to do the repairs, claimed " no leak found", then did the other needed repairs... we figured it might have been a leak from the past and that the guy was a pro, so we signed off that the repairs were done properly. Basically, it comes down to this... we could chase them for the repairs, but then we would be looking at getting a lawyer...$$$$.... then missing work to go to court...$$$.... just to have the judge tell us we signed off, too bad for you...
So yeah.... this is the deal with new house... lol.... adventures in home ownership! LOL!
