My P T Cruiser 2007 head lights work on occasion, I'm driving around at night with side lights only, main beam work fine......help

Too much silicone / RTV is a very bad thing when it squishes out , gets sucked into the oil pump and locks the gears. Per the manual, just a dab where the front cover / oil pump hits the block...

I've got TYC in my Ranger and PT, both seem OK. As for the broken TYC taillight, if the light is stressed when installed ( bent fender ) or screw over tightened, any light will crack.

The speed / rev limiter should just start dropping injector pulses at top speed not do a total shutdown, that would be very unsafe. ( RE when speed drops, the pulses resume )

I wonder if a rocker slid out of place and is getting hammered by the camshaft. Pull the valve cover and have a look. Being these are 4 valve motors, losing a rocker on one valve won't affect idle...

Just to narrow things down a bit more, pull the drive belts and run the engine. I'd also have a look at the timing belt tension idlers. Turn the engine by hand and if the cams rotate then snap...
