coming from rear of car, pretty sure drivers side. it's an '05 gt convertible turbo. have replaced shocks and watts link or bell crank. only does it when driving, cannot get it to do it with "bounce" test etc. anyone have an idea what to look for?

Yes brakes or wheel bearing, I've seen rear drum brakes rust off the metal frame. Does the squeek change with pressure on the brake pedal while moving, or pull on the parking brake slowly to see if it changes it tune.

I will try the brake test, altho don't think it is connected to brakes. 156,000 miles on car. this noise happens on every little bump, regardless of speed. car in great shape other than the noise, very annoying!

tried what was suggested with the brakes. made no difference. any other ideas greatly appreciated, thanks

thanks nitropt, since I am getting old and kinda decrepit, I don't get under cars much these day's. gonna take it tomorrow to my mechanic and leave it all day, told him to find it one way or the other. will post what we come up with. love the car, hate the noisy squeak!

Did you actually disassemble and inspect the brakes? My grinding sound was only ONE....of 8 brake pads! It was down to metal on metal!

wow, sorry soonercruiser, didn't mean to upset you- I "tried" what joex suggested as to pulling on e brake while driving and also listenening for any change in sound while applying brakes. my mechanic will look at brakes today so rest assured your suggestion will be checked.

found cause to be rear bumper bracket had come loose. brakes are fine. thanks for all who offered assistance.
