Default Cruise The Rockies III

CTR III in now in the record books. We had 148 Cruisers from 22 States present to enjoy the Colorado Rockies. We even got the Colo Springs Police Dept to shut down 7 miles of I-25 so we could cruise to Cripple Creek. Some of the pictures are now up and more to come. Now you can make plans for CTR IV in the Summer of 2004.

Here's a great story from Cruise The Rockies. Was on the Colorado Forum.... Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.....

What a great time my wife and I had at CTR III!

During CTR III, Russ Caldon had noticed the nice denim shirt that I was wearing with a blue PT Cruiser embroidered on the front (we have a 2001 Patriot Blue PT Cruiser with Nebraska plates that read "01 PT"). I reminded him that I had won that shirt at CTR II as well as the free night's stay at the Glenwood Springs hotel. I then went on to tell him of further luck that my wife and I had, due to CTR II, that we did not become aware of until later. Since I did not get a chance to share this story with the other club members, I shall take the opportunity now.

It was the evening of Friday the 13th, in September of 2002, that I called my wife, at home in Omaha, from Winfield, KS, to let her know I had arrived safely (this was the same day that the hood of Smitty car recieved a tin-roof assault at the Winfield Super 8). It was then that my wife informed me of a positive home pregnancy test she had taken that day.

A visit to the OBGYN confirmed the pregnancy and a due date of 05/01/2003 (May Day). After asking how they calculate due dates with such precision, the nurse showed me a simple cardboard wheel called a pregnancy calculator. The pregnancy calculator among other things, also tells the probable day of conception -- in this case 08/08/2002. We then consulted a calendar and discovered that we were in Dillon, CO, on 08/08/2002, on our way to CTR II!

Our little Colorado miracle was born early on 04/15/2003 (Tax Day -- however, I will have to wait until 2004 to take my tax deduction)! The baby was a boy, and his name is Dillon! I tried to convince my wife that his middle name should be Phillip-Thomas (PT) but she would have no part of that!

We were going to bring Dillon to CTR III because he is such a good traveler at this age -- all he wants to do is sleep in the car -- however we decided against him making the the trip to CO since the altitude might give our flatland baby a bad attitude! Besides, Dillon's maternal grandparents wanted to have him stay the week with them. Baby and grandparents did just fine and Mom and Dad enjoyed CTR III! That's what you call a win-win situation!

We look forward to future CTRs that will include Dillon. I'll post those ideas on the CTR IV forum.

Keep on cruisin',

Awesome photos. Thanks for sharing them with us all. I keep trying to convince my wife that there is life to live outside of California. I think she's caught the vision - I want to be back in Colorado so badly I can almost taste it. If we can't move back there in the next 10 months or so, I'll be making plans for us to attend CTRIV. There will be a CTRIV, right?

Thanks for the photo and the links. Colorado is a land of unparalleled beauty! I'm a bit jealous of you all, but I can't wait to pack the family into the PT and head out for CTRIV!
