Default This is upsetting me

Last night I got an e mail from as guy who thought he joined our club. Turns out he went to a search engine to locate PT Cruiser clubs (www.ptcruiserclub.org) after he found it he clicked directory, then found out ChicagoLand PT Cruiser Club. He clicked that open and filled out the info and gave his credit card. (we don't do credit cards in our club)He found my e mail and was comlaining that he never heard from anyone from our group. I soon found out he joined the NATIONAL club not ours. This has happened before I discovered. People go to our link, fill out application send money, thinking they are joining our club and they got linked to the national group. What can I do about this, I'm so pissed I can't stand it. I've worked so hard to get members/cars going here and this has to happen. [xx(]Gary

Gary,
It IS very mis-leading on the site. Your looking at the directory under Chicagoland PT Cruiser club and it says "Join this chapter now" so you think your joining yours and tit's the National club like you said.

But what your saying is that there's 2 sets of dues...one for the National, one for your local chapter. If you join your local chapter, do you pay to join and then have to join the National club? Does your local club pay a yearly fee to belong to the National or does each individual of your local club join the National club on their own if they want to?

Gary,
I did a search and it came up just like you said. It is very misleading. Anyway to talk to the national administrator and resolve this. It is not fair, they should give you a percentage back if someone joins their club this way.

I'm trying to contact the national club, if anyone has a contact # please pass it on. You would think that our application would come up first, it doesn't even show up. I've had at least 10 people contact methat were upset becuase they THOUGHT they were joing us, but ended up in the other one. Our web master doesn't even know how this is happening. Gary

I am the Idaho/Montana director of the national club and a also the coordinator of Treasure Valley PT's which of a chapter of the national club.
When we set up the local chapter we where told that we could not charge dues. When you join by clicking on "join this chapter" you join both the national club and the chapter. Dues are paid only to the national club.
Since our chapter does not receive any money from the national club and does not charge dues we have a dollar jar. At our meeting we just each put a dollar in the jar but no one is required to do so.
Maybe you can get Mike to make this clear on the site.

It seems as though the local chapters are never forwarded the info when new members sign up. [B)]

Maybe that's problem that needs fixing.

Gary, I guess Mike is NOT as understanding as you said, here is his post to be and mine is below.
Gary,

You formed a PT Cruiser Club chapter in July 2004

I guess you have since decided to run your own club.
You did not inform me of your change, so I guess you caused the confusion on
your own. I have removed you from the chapter directory.

Mike

Mike, I think YOU are confused, The issue comes up when people click open our site to join the Chicagoland PT Cruiser Club and get YOUR application form instead? That is what is misleading, I have at least 6 people who are raving mad because they THOUGHT they joined out club and so paid accordingly and really didn't. I hope this clarifies your confusion. If you list our site on the national list, we should have a link to our membership form, sounds pretty simple to me. Let me know if you understand now. Gary

Mike won't even return our phone calls so we could talk about this.

Met Mike at one of our club functions. IMHO I thought he was on the uppity side and didn't like him. Have heard this from other people, too. Maybe it's just a bad rap, maybe it isn't. Sounds like it has gone to his head.
