We should hit our knees tonight and thank God for young men like this. We enjoy what we have because of them.

There are heroes in every war. There were medals of honor awarded in Vietnam, that does not make it a sane or just war, nor does the fact that there are good people doing a good job in Iraq make it sane or just.
We went into Iraq under stated reasons that have been proven false.

Please do not confuse patriotism or support for the military with justifying a war of aggression and occupation.

14 yrs of violating 17 UN sanctions not to mention the original cease fire agreement. Torture and murder of thousands plus plotting to kill President Bush 41. Support of terrorists around the globe and the harboring of terrorists. I guess keeping Saddam in power would have been the right thing to do. After all the America haters were making big bucks on the oil for food program.
Why is that some people can't just be proud of our military?

I really don't and usually don't join in on political discussions but. In my eyes I see it this way, even if a war is right or wrong, we must support our troops, they are doing what they are told to do, right or wrong.

satellite66..WTF does not agreeing with a war have to do with supporting the military?
The point of this war was WoMD..of with they had none. Bad people do bad **** all around the world. Are we going to ruin their countries also? We ar enot the worlds keeper.
So they voilated sanctions, ect..so f'ing what. Is that just cause to run into the country & blowing up ****? NO. They were in no way a direct threat to us AFAGANSTAN was..more so Osama...but guess what we couldnt catch him, so we went after another target, an old ass man that kept proving to us that he had NOTHING. Bush insisted he did & fed americans LIES....so we invaded & then low & behold...oh you dont...but your a bad man & need to be taken out of power. Apparently his country doesnt think so, obviously.

I agree completely with QSD

I did not put this up for political purposes. It was meant as a thank you to the troops. You and QSD turned it into a DNC talk point. After QSD posted his opinion I posted mine. I don't know whay liberals can't just say it is great we have such brave troops without an editorial about the war?

Sure seemed like it was political.
You know nothing about me. I am not a do-or-die Democrat - I have voted for many Republicans - when I liked them. Trust me, I'd hate Bush/Rove/Cheney if they were Democrats.

I was in Vietnam, okay? I know from not being appreciated. If that was your point, I missed it. My point is we shouldn't be mis-using these guys patriotism and bravery - In Iraq I see too many similarities to Vietnam.

Do I salute these guys? ABSOLUTELY. It just saddens me that for the ones that died, the question unanswered is why?

I want our military to be used to safeguard our country, not wage offensive wars - Afghanistan was justified, Iraq is not. It's the USE of our military I'm upset about, not the people serving. If you're saying we have great people in the military, I'm with you.[?]
