The reality is that we need more refinerys and more drilling in this country. We have not built a refinery in 30+ years. We have not built any nuclear plants in that long either. The envrio left has blocked those things for decades. We could convert current oil powered electric plants to clean coal and lessen our dependence. All the liberal talk about alt fuels and conservation is great but it does not solve the problem we have right now. I notice lots of Kerry stickers on SUVs.

There is a difference between test vehicles and the reality of replacing an entire fleet of millions of cars.

As for Popular Mechanics: They also used to predict the great future of personal helicopters in every suburban driveway.
