Ok, look in the center of the pic. Look to the left of the big dark swirl, and you will see a big blue area under the clouds. That is Lake Conroe. My house is just to the right of that.

We evacuated to Austin and are fine, our son is in the house. My sister lives on the lake nearby and says it isn't as bad as Alicia was in '83 though. It sure looks scary though. Let's hope it's ok.

Prayers and thoughts are being sent to all in the path of Rita. Let us know how you came through.

Amazingly, we came through fine. My son stayed at the house, and luckily was fine! We had no trees fall on the house and no damage. We really thought we might lose part of the roof in one area and had moved the good furniture out of that room before we left, and boarded up our sliding glass door in there and some windows. It could have been a lot worse if the eye had come in directly at Galveston and headed up I-45 like Alicia did. We had a tree down on my sister's house next door in that one and roof damage and no power and water for 8 days. This time we have power even! Already. We evacuated to Austin to my daughter's house and are fine over here, will probably return tomorrow.
