Default Blew a stop light

I can't believe what i just did today...... I am in major shock, i was at a left turn stop light and for some reason i thought it was green and i hit it, but then i got in the middle of the intersection a noticed cars everywhere, %^# #&&$ @#($ on both sides of me, now what i cant understand is that what made me think i saw green? Why whould i do this? what could make me do such a thing? I never ran a red before, and i honestly thought it was green........ i just cant uderstand why i did this. And my car is so unique, i am in trouble if anyone in that intersection remembers me. And i hope to god there was no camera at that light, because otherwise my %#$ IS dead... But anyway i think most people noticed my error and made sure to get out of my way....... so i made it thought safely

What might have happened is that you were daydreaming while waiting for the light to change. Back to reality, maybe you happen to glance at the opposing signal (which was green) and your mind said "GO", not really realizing which way you were facing and onto oncoming traffic you went. Just a theory, but you did say you thought you saw a green light.

Glad it turned out OK for you and glad everyone else was paying attention to what they were doing.

In New jersey we can turn right on red and sometimes if your in a daze when cars to the right of you start moving your instinct is to plow ahead so you don't hear that numbskull with the horn behind you. Also where I work if a pump or motor is running the light is red if it is off and ready to go the light is green , man is that confusing

I am so glad you made it out alive!

Please don't let distractions affect your driving. It can be a deadly combination.

Crewzin, I live for the car behind me to honk their horn. That's my signal to go into extreme gas-saving mode!

Darryl,

It all depends on why they're blowing their horn. If the light turned green, and you sat there daydreaming, perfectly good reason to wake you up. Done that (tap the horn) at a few of the older drivers down here...wasn't sure weather they died at the wheel or off on a cruise to the Bahamas in their mind. I guess if they don't move I'd probably dial 911. []
