Imigrant boycott

My mother is Spanish (from Spain, not South America). My mother has light hair, blue eyes, and light complexion, and I too have those characteristics. According to the US Census Bureau, I'm Hispanic (though I've never used it to gain advantage of government assistance or "affirmative action".

I was telling my friend that I should take the day off for this "hispanic boycott day". She called to my attention that it is not a :Hispanic Boycott", but rather an "Imigrant boycott". I explained that we are all imigrants, except for the Native Americans, and that therefore, only Native Americans should be working today.

Now here is the real twist:

The reason that most Central Americans and South Americans have that beautiful black hair and dark complexion is not their European Spanish heritage (which is normally a fair complexion like other Europeans). It is their Aztek, Incan, and other American Indian heritage that makes them look "hispanic" (so called).

So in fact on Imigrant Boycott day, all the European, Asian, and African Americans should be on boycott, and most of the Latinos and other Native Americans should be the only ones working.

Where is the flaw in my logic?

True, we're nearly all immigrants, but the word "ILLEGAL" is the key. The millions of people that are here with no record - we don't know who they are, what crimes they may have committed. My parents were immigrants. They had to wait a couple of years to come because of quotas. They went to school nights to learn English and were proud to become citizens.
THAT'S the difference.
The irony is that illegals aren't doing themselves justice - by registering properly, learning English, and becoming ciizens, they could cut off the illegal labor trade where they get paid low wages and no benefits.
The only ones who benefit from illegal immigrants are the businesses that employ them.

I am livid at hearing of a Spanish verison of the National Anthem! THAT'S WRONG.
Enough is enough - I'm sick of the demands that voting registration, driver's tests, etc., be in Spanish - WHY? What other immigrant population has been so arrogant?
Did the Irish demand Gaelic accomodations?
The Germans? The Poles?
If you want to be in this country, adopt our language and customs.
Those are the rules.

at the first sign of having to actually pay taxes and pay their medical expenses, they are going to head back across the border. think of the businesses that have employed these people all these years, as soon as they have to report them with I-9's and W-4's it will open a whole new bag of poo-poo, as the goverment will know they all were not hired that day. I don't mind thet fact that they want to work here. i mind the fact they get all of my benefits and pay none of my taxes. we should put them in a indenturing program where they have to pay off $60,000 in back taxes in order to become eligible for the "Guest Worker Program"

My last name is Gonzales though I have hardly any Spanish blood in me, My Grandmother was named Reichtraf,thats as German as you can get. Mothers side McCloskey and McDevitt. All came from othe other side. They were glad that they could give their children the opportunity to make good. They abided by the laws and wouldn't dare cause trouble, afraid they would be sent back. They adopted this country and not just the things that suited them. My great grandmother Reichtraf never left the house because she could not speak English and was embarressed because she couldn't. I feel bad for all the hard working legals that don't ask for anything except the right to be free and chase the dream. Maybe along with sending them back we send the people who employ them back, your rights have been revoked MR. Businessman !!!!

The complaint is not with those people here legally, it is with those who come here illegally. I for one don't think that rewarding coming here illegally is fair to all those who wait or have waited for their chance. All those who apply for Visas and submit to all the red tape and paperwork for the chance to live the American dream are being slapped in the face by those who think they don't have to follow the same rules.

Another problem is the security aspect - with illegals, we have no idea who's here...
