I missed that, who called who what? (And don't think it's endemic to one party either, qsd!)
No, on the political debate forum, not here.
My signature had "Vietnam vet, but with a Master's from Columbia" - is was "elitist", Columbia was "liberal", questions were raised as to whether I really was in Vietnam, "for having a Master's degree, you don't know much" - that type of crap.
You're right, there are asshats in both parties - I argue with those that are pure Democrats, too. If I bought party platforms, the Republicans would appeal to me - fiscal responsibility, less government, integrity... what I object to is those that defend anyone of their party - they can do no wrong - clearly the current regime violates fiscal responsibility, less government, and integrity ...
I see some Republicans speaking up - Pat Buchanan, for example, but by and large a Republican speaking up against Bush is castrated. And there are those who defend everything Clinton did - I'm neither of those.

That is your opinion and you don't have to join in. Why do you choose to join in to something you don't like?
Online forums are like clubs. Do you think the ELKs only talk about ELK stuff at their meetings? It is unreasonable to ask that people confine their talk to only specific subjects. It is even more unreasonable when there is a section set up for those things that is not required reading by all.
I stand by my comment that the majority of those against this have an anti Bush agenda and are trying to squash anything that does not agree with them.
Why should we be subjected to your political beliefs? This site is about cars, not politics. Some people come here to escape the BS of the world and wars. Why don't you understand that? Let it go.

When there is a political discussion, all the smiles are going away.

Once again why do you join in? If it hurts your feelings or upsets you then why do you feel the need to comment? Do you comment in every other thread thats posted? I doubt it.

Why should we be subjected to anyones beliefs on anything? Because this is a discussion forum. You know, a gathering of people from all walks of life who share at least one common thread, the PT? After that, it's a free for all. I don't have to agree with you, nor you me. You may like the styling of something I find completely abhorrent. Someone else may find my lack of extruded chrome crap apalling. Besides, all manner of other things are discussed here, AS IT'S A DISCUSSION FORUM! But no one seems to get their panties in wad until politics is mentioned. Specifically, politics from right of center. I would posit that if we were all bashing Bush, as is the fashion nowadays, there would be no problem. Demur all you want, but I think we know the answer. Anyway, I've said it before, I'll say it again: If ou don't want your delicate sensibilities offended, don't click into political discussions. Stick to congratulating people for their latest chrome gee-gaw or oogah horn.....or ban me. I don't care...and I'm done with this, whine all you want....bash me all you want....

Good points black gt boosty. This entire section is for non PT discussion. If you are one who does not want to discuss anything but PTs then it is a simple matter to not click on this section. I would support your argument if this thread was in the stereo section but it is not. The hollow nature of the complaints makes them suspicious to me. Why are those with difficulties even looking in the Non PT section at all? After all as has been their argument it is a PT board.

So I guess in off topic we need to talk about growing pretty flowers and baking cookies? Of course you have to grow the pretty flowers in the back of the PT and bake the cookies in the engine compartment. Off topic is supposed to be only about PT things, right? It always bothers me when one or two people try to control the majority. Sad, but it is the way of this country. Personally, I'm totally sick of it. Not every topic on the forums interests me so I choose not to read them. Some of the topics I choose to read I don't agree with. I post my response, maybe choose a rebuttal and if I still don't like it I don't whine about it. Some people need to exercise their freedom of choice and not attempt to control others for their selfish piece of mind.
