Guess it was time for Rums to go, his replacement is a guy named Robert Gates, a former advisor to Bush Senior, Pres. of Texas A&M, Ex-CIA. Hope Gates makes some changes for the good. He still needs to be confirmed by the Senate. I hope the next Sec. of State is more perceptive to the American pulse.

Watched the news last nite - Bush said he made his statement last week because he didn't want to cloud the elections - in other words, he knew at the time he said he was keeping Rummy that he was replacing Rumsfeld, or in other words, he admitted lying.
I was amazed when he made that statement - "I'm keeping Cheney and Rumsfeld for the next 2 years" - 1) Cheney he HAS to keep - he was elected (sorta) - 2) WHY say anything about Rumsfeld at all right before the election???
I think he was waiting to see - if the Republicans held Congress, we'd still have Rummy.

It's indicative of how bad things have gotten that Bush admits lying, and nobody blinks because 1) that isn't news and 2)no one was listening to him anyway.
