I'm a Republican and can't stand Bush either. I also don't like Democrats and what they stand for. Looks like the Democrats might get control of things and if that happens you better get ready to open your wallets so hard working already over taxed people like myself can support their programs. Their programs keep poor people tied to their purse strings instead of getting them back on their own two feet.

well it appears that the democrats took the house, now I hope we can hold the senate.
It's really scary, if this stays and we get a democratic president in '08, I hope i have enough time to get out of the country.

A lot worse. Bush is the bad guy here not the whole R party. Bush is out of control, made himself a little dictator with his White House henchmen. Why do you think Colin Powell quit? He saw the writing on the wall. The D will tax us to death and cut back the military at a time we can't afford to with the world situation. We can no longer look the other way with terrorism and Iran and North Korea promoting nuclear weapons. God help us if the military gets cut back like Clinton did. My dad worked for three letter organizations his whole life and said Clinton practically destroyed those organizations with cutbacks as far as gathering info on enemies and potential enemies. Why do you think it's taken us so long to get back up to speed as far as knowing what our enemies are doing? God help us if a D gets in the White House. We can no longer turn a blind eye or attempt to negotiate with fanatical terrorists. They have said they want to destroy us.

Bush is an idiot who couldn't do anything if the controlling Republican Party both in control of the House and the Senate who dictate Government policy along with a willing Supreme Court. These four Legislative Branches have been dictating Government Policy for the past 8 years, 12 years if you just count the House and Senate. There policies have been eroding and separating the people of this great Nation.

Colin Powell quit because he saw how incompetent the Sec. of State and the Pres. actually were.

As for taxes, yeah I enjoyed my extra $200 buck on my tax return, some tax cut. I don't know about you, but I don't make over $100,000 a year, so while most of us see our $200 tax reduction go into our gas tanks in higher energy prices the 1% of Americans get to roll over Billions of dollars of tax exempt investment funds into a tax free ROTH and when they cash it out that's also tax free, and they will also be able to give their kids that Mansion after they pass, Oh yeah and those thousands of acres of private land, gets to stay that way since that gets to be passed down to Paris Hilton and the Wallmart kids. Did anyone see a reduction in sales tax over the past 12 years? In truth Republicans like to cut taxes for the 1% wealthy, while letting the National Deficit balloon to over 4 Trillion dollars, that's FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS. Cutting taxes while letting public institutions fall apart, look at our schools, look at our roads, look at our health care, the institutions we all depend on. How can Republicans continue cutting taxes without a real plan to pay for needed public funding. Schools are closing around the Country because of "ALL Children Left Behind," a la Bush, passed by the R House an R Senate and their inability to pay for it. Roads, highways and bridges are falling apart because Federal funding has been cut because guess what there's not enough money in the budget to pay for it, because a R House, R Senate, R Pres. don't know how to use a credit card. All they know how to do is borrow, borrow, borrow. And who gets stuck with the bill, well lets see here, guess who just took control of the House of Representatives... THE DEMOCRATS. And guess what they will have to do... bring fiscal responsibility back to the Capitol and pay down the deficit. Heard that before, seems to happen over and over again, Republicans spend, spend, spend, promise empty promises to the majority of Americans, while cutting deals for the very few of Americans, put the Country on the brink of Bankruptcy then get voted out because everyone finally gets wise to the con that's happened to them.

4 Trillion dollars, and you think terrorists are scary, guess who's been funding large sums of the debt America owes, guess... Asian Banks. US lenders have been funding you, me the Government huge amounts of money with the lure of low interest rates, US lenders have been backing this funding by borrowing from Central Banks abroad, most of it is from China's Central Bank, why do you think Bush is so chummy with China these days. Lots of money has also been lent from Countries like Saudi Arabia. To me this just spells disaster, and you know how the R House, R Senate and R Pres. handles disasters... Katrina, Iraq, Delay, Folley. The worst of it, is by putting America in the position of owing large amounts of money to foreign countries like China and Saudi Arabia it becomes a National Security Problem. Last time I checked China was a Communist Country, America's main opposition during the Korean and Vietnam war. What's going to happen when China comes ringing and demanding repayment of all the debt we owe them. And how secure is it when we owe billions of dollars to Saudi Arabia who last I heard most of the 9/11 terrorists including Bin Laden are from there. The R House, and R Senators, R Pres. and R Homeland Security have dropped the ball again. While everyones eyes are stuck on Iraq this Countries Worst National Crisis gets swept under the rug. Before you know it Foreign Countries won't have to invade American soil, because

Well I am happy. The American people seem to have woken up and spoken loud and clear that they won't buy the same lies they've been fed.
Montana and Virginia currently show both Tester and Webb ahead, but it still isn't definite, but the House and Governor races sure are definite.
Maybe, just maybe, the country can get pulled to the center, away from facism, and maybe there can be some real democracy instead of a virtual dictatorship.

I hated Nixon for his deceit and his grab for power, but at least he wasn't incompetent and as corrupt as what we've had recently. I am particularly happy to see DICK Santorum get soundly defeated - all those poor lobbyists that will have to look for new palms to grease.
[?]
For the first time in my life, I voted straight Democrat. The Republicans seem to put party above Country, and I can't stomach that.
There are some good Republicans, but they've been too silent for too long. Look at the Foley mess - they protected that sleaze for the sake of the party. DeLay, Abramoff, Libbey, the prescription plan, our "energy plan", tax cuts that favored the rich, failure to raise the minimum wage - the stench of corruption got strong enough even rural America could smell it.

The gross incompentence demonstrated by Katrina, our borders, the conduct of the war in Iraq, Failure to get Bin Laden, and absolutely dismal diplomacy - pitiful.

The lies and deceit and feeding fear - rather than hope and vision - all to maintain power - disgusting.

The trampling of what America stands for - advocating torture, scoffing at the Geneva Conventions, initiating a war of aggression, insulting other countries, eroding our Bill of Rights and the balance of power our Constitution calls for - treasonous.

The rubber-stamping of the chicken hawks stops now.[?]

republicans relax. this may not turnout so bad. think about the positives. people did not vote democrat for their plans to fix our problems, the dems did not really even present any solutions during the campaign. rather, people voted agains bush and his administration. now, unless the dems have some secret magic plan, the problems we currently face, like iraq, are complex with no easy and quick fixes. if the dems get nothing done quickly, the republicans will have plenty of firepower in 08, and dissatisfied voters may switch parties again.

and while i would personally like to see the dems try and impeach the president, i do not think it is in the best interest of the country. perhaps this vote will tell the politicians that we want results, and they will work together to get something done right.
