Depends on who you believe. If it was just a practice bat, then, what can you do. Mistakes happen.

It's like Nolan Ryan hiding stuff on his cap, sleeve, etc. for his spitball pitches. You don't see too many people saying he threw his career down the toilet.

It's not like I follow baseball or anything, but I don't see it as a serious offense UNLESS Sosa's other bats (that were confiscated) were corked as well. Then he would have a problem.

I heard Sosa and Martha Stewart are going in business together / making imported cork, it can be used for wine, coasters or bats/

The list of cheaters in baseball history may be some what distinguished for example: Whitey Ford, Gaylord Perry, Joe Niekro, Albert Belle, Mike Scott, Brian Moehler, Danny Almonte I can go on and on. None of the of the proceeding holds the home run title except Sosa.
I personally don’t think he has ruined his reputation or flushed his career down the toilet; I do think he is an IDIOT. His excuse may make since and it may be proven correct, but if you are going to practice with a loaded bat, don’t you think he would be smart enough to MARK IT (he should be able to feel the difference, duh)!
I am not now nor was I in the past a Sosa fan because I personally think is a big crybaby, making millions of dollars and always complaining. When people like me would walk through the fires of hell with a 55-gallon drum of TNT to play the game at the professional level. He wants us to believe he does this for the fans (he said in a press interview that he uses the corked bat in practice to impress the fans), well I don’t buy that nor do I believe it was an honest mistake. Sosa is in a batting slump now and needs to justify his hefty salary. [B)]

When we go to bad at night we rember, it is just a game.
