There have been historical temperature swings - that does not mean that man isn't tampering with the cause of those swings.

What'd be the worst thing that could happen if we reduced coal and oil use and got more solar, wind, nuclear, and tidal power? Maybe we wouldn't be dependent on people sitting on oil that hate us.

Wanna talk about evolution? The same fossils that prove climate swings prove evolution.

Why do you keep bringing up evolution? Did someone here mention it at all? Neither did I on the Crew. What arrogance the left possesses to think that man can have such an effect on the earth so quickly. Answer me this, why are Mars, Venus, and Pluto also undergoing "Global Warming" right now? Where are all the humans driving cars and farting and burning coal on those planets? Hmmm, maybe temperature shift is related to increase in solar radiation?
And as far as the worst thing? I answered that on the other forum. The worst would be no change in the temp cycle, and economic ruin, or a hastening of our own destruction through some as yet unforeseen unintended consequence. Like maybe greenhouse gasses protect us from the increased UV radiation of the Sun and when we cut back on them, anyone not wearing SPF500 burns to crisp? (I don't think that will happen, btw) Yeah, that's extreme, but is it any more extreme than what the idiot who got a D in Earth Sciences is talking about? (Hint, it's wasn't GW!) But hey, it's easier to set up a straw man to tear down, right? Hey, you all are bible thumpers, with beliefs, so you must be crazy, right? Whatever, like I said on the othe rforum, I'm no bible thumper. But neither am I an arrogant green elitist, either, who mocks those who do believe. At least they have faith in something....

You can feel free to cut back on your use of coal and oil. Be my guest. I also like using less oil because then I spend less money.
But why should Africa not take advantage of its coal and oil reserves to industrialize? And why should I be forced to pay more for an unreliable, expensive alternative like solar and wind.
Now if we were to start building more fission plants to replace the oil and coal generating stations, that might make sense.

Who said anything about evolution? The fossils are minor evidence compared to
a) historical records (for the last few hundred years) and
b) polar Ice cores.
Besides, any of the bible-thumping-twits who claim the Earth was created in 4004 BC are not parties to this debate because they are
1- Irrational, Deluded Fools and
2- Are sure that they are going to be picked up in the Rapture any day now. (Thats why I only fly in airplanes piloted by sinners.)
