Sorry to hear that, Bob. Have you ever considered moving out West (?) where the sun shines "all the time" and it "never" rains......especially here in the Pacific Northwest. Hang in there--August is just around the corner and all will get better.

Washington State but you might also want to consider Oregon, Idaho, Monatana, or Colorado--all great places to live IMHO. However, if the wife wants "sunny days 24/7" then you best look at California, Arizona, Nevada or New Mexico. Lots of people are retiring to Nevada as the land and cost of living are still reasonable. [8D] [|)]

Hey Bob!! I used to live in New Jersey. Then I moved to Tucson in '79. How wonderful. After traveling around a bit with Uncle Sam to numerous "interesting" places, I found myself in Phoenix. Lived there for 10 years. Now I live up north in Chino Valley (15 miles north of Prescott in case you want to check out the map.) It's a mile high or thereabouts. Lots of sun and warm. Tell the wife that it's not HOT until it reaches 110 degrees for some of us AZ types. You ought to make a trip out in the heat of summer before planning on leaving NY. Some people like the 4 seasons. Others like summer.

Just my $.02

I agree with onespeed. Unless it is your job making you go, go on vacation to where you think you might want to live. You might just not like it. Go on a few mini vacations to different areas and check things out. If your not in a hurry this will do you fine. Good luck in your quest.
