Default Live Free or Die Hard

Just came back from seeing Bruce Willis's new movie, Live Free or Die Hard. If your a fan of action movies, don't miss this one. Five stars from me.

One more thing I have to say about the movies in general. The price of admission isn't too bad, but where I am, a small soda is $4 and small pop-corn is $5. That's just plain highway robbery.

Have to agree...the last time we went to the movies the admission was the cheap part They won't let you take your own treats in either but I always find a way...
Thats why I wait for the video to come out.....I am cheap

Wow only $5?!

It's $7.75 a seat here on the central coast of california..... Plus i blew a $20 on 2 drinks, a popcorn, and a dog. Robbery I say..

I like my uncles method.. He is a cop and must conceal carry a firearm... They ask to search the bag, which is loaded with a SIG .45 and loads of candy and chips and stuff, and they get the old badge plus the "I'm a cop speech". They just give up..

I love going to the state fair with him, we just breeze through the security bag check..

thegoldpt,

You took that wrong. $5 was the price of the small pop-corn. The seats are $6.25 in the middle of the afternoon with a senior discount. 2 drinks, pop-corn and dog would have been $19 here.

MTL09,

No, missed the PT in the tunnel scene but I'll be sure to check it out on the DVD. I have all Bruce's other films in my collection so I'm sure this one will be added.

Forgive me, but I've just got to add a bit about the high theater prices.

I've been a theater projectionist for twenty-four years now; and I never was, thank you very much, one of those usually-teenaged know-nothings: I am an experienced, well-trained and knowegable-about-my-job professional, not a casual untrained "threader", as we call them.

There are reasons for those high ticket and concession prices, beyond mere profiteering. The studios and distributors charge large base rental fees, plus a hefty percentage of every single ticket sold. By the time all is said an done, it's the concession fees that cover all employee costs, plant costs (building rental and/or mortgage, plus utilities, plus projection booth equipment and upkeep), and supply costs (raw popcorn, the candy, hotdogs, etc. etc. etc.) If anybody is making the big bucks, it comes down to just two choices: some actor making twenty million a movie, and the distributors themselves.

Add onto that that when distributors agree to rent a theater their films, they often piggyback on a requirement that the theater rent some other film or films that are likely to be far less profitable to the theater--- but you can be sure the distributor charges full rental fees for those too, oh yes indeedy!

So all in all, when you ever-so-cleverly sneak in snacks, you are taking it right out of my personal not-very-high-to-begin-with paycheck: gee, thanks!

And leaving aside the whole question of copyright violation, perhaps you can see why theaters hate those jerks who sneak in video cameras and make pirated copies.

p.s.---PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR CELLPHONE IN THE THEATER! Those things are so bright, you can use them as flashlights!
