Default All you computer guru's out there

I need some help.

I have all my settings correct:

.Remember visited pages for last 3 days.
.Remember what I enter in forms and search bar.
.Except cookies from sites, keep until they expire.
.Remember passwords from sites.

But, about two weeks ago, all of a sudden, all the sites, forums that I go to don't recognize me. I have to LOGON each time. As soon as I put "C" it knows I'm CREWZIN and puts in the password, but doesn't know who I am when I first go to the sites.

I can't do anything except read at PT Cruiser world. It knows I'm ONLINE but I can't reply to threads or go to my Profile, I click on things and it goes back to the front page.

What the heck is going on with this #*&%$#@ computer?

Ok: the 'remember my id/pword' is a browser function.

What is happening is your browser thinks you have 2 different User Ids for the site, and as soon as you start to type one id it is able to tell which ID you want to use, and provide the ID and Password.

How to fix it:
If you are using firefox:
on the top toolbar click on 'Tools/Options'

Select the Security Tab
click on 'show passwords'.

Scroll down that list and you will probably find some duplicate sites with blank passwords.... delete them and you should be good.

IF you are using IE:

Arrogant Geekie Answer: Install Firefox.

Less arrogant Geekie answer:
Right Click on the UserID on a website login screen. I think IE will show you all the IDs is knows for that site. I think you can delete the ones you don't want (the one that doesn't start with a 'c').

OK, I just deleted ALL the passwords (there was to many to go through). I'll just sign on at all my sites and see if they remember me the next time. Yea, went to Firefox about 6 months ago.

Thanks.

FANTASTIC Thanks a million. Everything is back to normal except PT Cruiser World, so that says it's not the LOGIN problem. May be just that site.

maybe also take note when visiting the site are you using

www.domain.com
or without www
domain.com

cookie consider them 2 different sites.

eg.
if you go to www.some-pt-cruiser.com and remember me,
then you go to some-pt-cruiser.com, it will still ask you for login info....

Neon,

I did notice that it's different when I reply to a forum notice as I just did with your reply. I had to LOGON again. But if I just call up the forum from "My Favorites" to check if there's anything new, then it knows me and I don't have to LOGON. Hopefully now that I did use the reply notice and signed on, I won't have to do it the next time.

Hey, no problem, except. We had some real bad storms last night right before bedtime. I shut down both the wife's and my computer. This morning, I brought them both on-line and started going to the forums. Guess what? I had to LOGON again at all the forums I went to.

We also had probably those same storms. I have both of mine connected to APC's Uninterruptable Power Supply. It has a battery as well as it protects against surges, spikes & lightning strikes etc. I had no problems this morning.

Just had another round of storms go right over our area. I have the surge protectors on everything electronic but the way the lightning was hitting all around us, I take no chances. Turned off the computers again. And again I had to LOGON to everything I went to when I powered up.
