Default Hey all!

Hey guys!

I'm Ron and I own a 2001 Limited PT Cruiser. Im just looking for a forum that will keep me busy and I thought by joining here I could also get some help if need be.

Let me just say that the PT Cruiser is an excellent car. I bought it used in 05' with <28k miles. As I am 18 now, 16 at purchase, it has been nothing but a great car. Besides the power steering going out on me, it has done me well.

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and hope to meet some of you on the forums!

Have a good one!

Haha, not at all. Atleast I can expect a somewhat mature environment here that can't be found anywhere else .

WELCOME to the forum Ron.

A big mixture of friendly owners on this forum. Always ready to help or just express their feelings (good or bad) about a particular subject. Mine's a 2001 also and I had the power steering pump and fan motor go out on mine. Just coming up to 87K on the odometer. New struts and shocks on the other day and looking around for a good place for the timing belt change. I plan on keeping it a quite awhile.

When you get time, please fill out your user profile. Maybe someone on the forum is close by your neighborhood.

If I am not mistaken, the power steering was recalled on 01' Cruisers...Am I correct or ..?

My steering went out on me on the interstate and I noticed when I got off at the ramp.....Was scary at the time because I had no idea what was going on.

Ron,

There were 3 recalls for the cruiser. One was for a dounut shaped gasket on the fuel tank (tank would leak if car turned over).

One was for the fuel line on top of the engine (fuel line would rub on the air-conditioning lines and cause a leak which would/could cause a fire).

The last was the power steering lines that ran underneath the transaxle. (The lines would rub on the transaxle and wear a hole in the line causing a leak which might cause a fire).

There was no recall on the power steering pump itself like there's no recall on the fan motor, but hundreds of owners had failure on both of these parts.

My power steering pump went out in the middle of a high speed turn, I headed straight towards the concrete divider and just barely missed it be dragging the steering wheel over to complete the turn.

Fan motor burned out in the middle of heavy traffic in Orlando causing all the sticky red radiator fluid to spew out the overflow tank all over the engine.
