Default Deductible issue with car repair

as anyone knows I was rear-ended by a hit and run driver and considering that I have USAA Auto Insurance, and I have uninsured motorist coverage, the hit and run driver's deductible is $300

however when I went to the body shop of my insurance's choice, I was told that I'd have to pay the H & R driver's deductible after the my insurance pays for the repairs. I'm like...it's the other driver's fault, why should I have to pay for the repair out of my pocket?

what I'd like to know if this is the norm among insurance companies to make the driver pay out of pocket for the unknown (at fault) driver's deductible.

*confuzzled*

Sorry, but yeah: you should expect to pay the amount of your deductible. The only way I know of that you would NOT be out-of-pocket for it, is if YOUR insurance agency could recover it from HIS insurance agency---- which I know ain't gonna happen here, since the jerk who hit you did it hit-and-run. It's unfortunate, but yes, the victim does end up paying in these situations.

Have you already gotten your Cruiser in for the repairs? Shucks, mine's not even getting the estimate until this next Friday!

well, CRUD..! I was hoping for the better but figured the worst. *razz*

Not yet~ I need to talk to an agent for a couple of issues before I turn my car over for repairs.

I'm feeling better, I felt like a punching bag for that 2 days after but today I'm good, still a bit stiff in the shoulder/neck area.
