BTW....
As far as MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN is concerned.....
A previous post on the subject had the PT Cruiser in the Top 10 of mechanical dependability autos. I didn't even see the HHR on that list. But then, that's just statistics.

I only saw the hhr in december when I was visiting the US, first one I saw I thought it was a heavily modified PT!

If the PT is definately going to cease then what's left to get?

The PT was first and is best for the all our retro stying but well done Chevy for taking up the mantle!

Have you guys seen the Nissan Figaro?

Nissan Figaro Specifications

Japan like retro styling too.
Too small & and steer wheel's on the wrong side for importing to the US though.

There is an HHR parked next to my PT in the garage. The PT cost 17 and change in 2002. The HHR cost 13 in 2007. The both have the identical factory option, an automatic transmission. The level of standard equipment in the HHR is a bit more than the PT was. They are both nice for the purpose we bought them for. Gas mileage? PT -27/hwy, HHR 34/hwy. Overall, brand loyalty aside, I think the HHR was a better deal. I really have nothing on reliability, the HHR has just about 2K miles on it, the PT around 40K, neither of which has had any traumatic issues.

I still like my PT better. Its a nice option if/when the PT's are discontinued. I too say "PT wannabe"....teaching my mom the difference when we're on the road.

It is the PT wanabe, but inf PT stops in 2008/9 does that mean it is the 'PT wanabe' that now is the PT?

If they's just fix the boxy 80's headlights, it'd be next on my list.

It looks much better as the 2 door pannel van version too.

I agree with liking, but not loving the HHR, even with all the bells n whistles. The PT has a more thought-through body design though, that is very easy to tell. We can't hate it! It has retro looks!!
Im sure the SS will be a step in the right direction though!

HHR = PT Wannabe for sure.

Nothing will compare to the PT!

My sis has a hhr. There nice but there is sooooo much less room in it. I have a 2002 and was shocked with the interior room in the 2007 pt. Not as much side to side room.

To be honest, the HHR SS Panel will be my next car. I've driven several HHRs during business trips and have really found them to be more of a comfortable ride PLUS the cargo area is so much larger than my 02 PT. Believe me, I've hauled everything from bags of mulch to chairs inside my PT.
The SS Panel (due out in Q3) has some really nice aerodynamics and a much needed increase in Hp. It will be bittersweet giving up the Bruzer but after five years, its time for a new ride...

Also, if I'm not mistaken, didn't the original designer for the PT leave Chrysler back in 03 to go to GM and develop a "retro" offering?

It is reported that he designed the HRT!!
