Default Don't complain about gas mileage

I just came back rom my first half day with the Citrus County Sheriff's Department. I was with the local town's Police but they sold out and is now letting the Sheriff's Department take over law enforcement at a big savings per year, so now I'm with the Sheriff's Office.

Anyway, the person before me filled the Sheriff's car up before leaving it to me. I zeroed the odometer and started off. Not noticing too much the mileage I was putting on until the end of the shift, I wrote down that I put 63 miles running around the county. I then loked at the gas guage and it was below 3/4 of a tank. Talk about bad mileage! I couldn't fil it up to see exactly what it was getting becuase we don't fill up till under half way but I take a guess at about 10-13 miles to the gallon. Glad I don't pay for the stuff.

Yea, I realize it's a Ford Interceptor Police package with about 400 hp, heavy duty suspension, dual exhaust and large brakes but I didn't stomp on it at all, just cruised around.

And in the military - tanks are measured in gallons per mile!

Talking Re: Don't complain about gas mileage

By the time I got out of the Air Force here in 1998, all the base's vehicles were on CNG (that's compressed natural gas Don, and you cruisers in Rio Linda).
Cheap, but mileage is comparing apples & oranges to gas.
Besides, you can't put a pricetag on national freedom, can you!? So few nations have it, there aren't many true comparisons.
(just raggin' ya' Don)

But, if we all had CNG, then we could be refueled "in flight", er... I mean "in cruise"!
