Default Is this true about the Magnum?

Iread this in another post...

Chrysler LLC will cut the PT Cruiser convertible from its lineup, but leave the regular Cruiser in production, a person familiar with the company's plans said today.

The retro-styled PT Cruiser had been on the short list of four models that Chrysler was expected to cut due to slow sales. Despite a sales decline of 27% through September, the PT Cruiser is still the third best-selling model in Chrysler's lineup, behind the 300 sedan and the Town & County minivan.

In addition to the PT Cruiser convertible, Chrysler will announce tomorrow that it will shed the Pacifica wagon, the Crossfire coupe and the Dodge Magnum wagon over the 2008 model year. The aging Pacifica and Crossfire share no common underpinnings with other Chrysler vehicles and need expensive updates, while the slow-selling Magnum will be replaced by the Dodge Journey crossover when it launches next year.

Is this still the case?
I love the magnum and was thinking of getting one as the family car as my wife hate's 'socker mom' suvs but we want plenty of trunk space.
It's just a chrager with more speace out back, it's a great car, shame if it does get axed.

That's the latest word. Don't think your gonna get hundreds of Magnum owners to write the new owners of Chrysler saying they want the Magnum saved from the axe like the Cruisers owners did.

True,

The PT is unique!

Don't let BMW mini owners and even owners of the new fiat 500 tell you they have a a niche car, they are not.
The PT however realy did break the mould! (even though it looks like it came out of one)

I wonder who is styling the new vehicles at Dodge? Is it just me or does most of the stuff now suck? I liked the way the Magnum looked, there was no mistaking it as a Dodge, even though some was outsourced the Mercedes. Now they're replacing it with the Journey which looks like a Mazda MPV from the back and maybe Saturnish from the side. It looks more Japanese than anything, definitely goofy in my opinion. The Jeep Compass should just be pushed off a cliff. The Liberty looks weird but I think mostly due to the headlights, that look works for the Outlander tho. The Dakota hasn't looked good since it's third redesign in I think 03, it's getting better, but still is a bit weird. The Durango is just a loss since their redesign, it looks much more convincing as an AWD minivan in Aspen clothing. The Ram they're slowly killing, it had nice headlights in 2002, then they went square, now they put a Charger grill on it? The back of the Caravan looks like it was designed by the guys that did the Villager or the Venture!

Maybe I'm just spoiled with my PT interior, but does Chrysler only get that cheap black as their only color now? It looks like a Cobalt interior, in every car! The new Dodge Ram Laramie is a curious mixture of cheap plastic and woodgrain inlays. Is it just because my car has a variety of colors and textures inside that I hate these interiors?

I don't know if my rant is out of place, but I'm curious, how much do people agree with me? Hopefully it's just me, I like Dodge, and I want them to succeed, be prosperous, and keep on offering great vehicles. But IMHO the only good thing going for them in the near future is the Challenger. Is it just me noticing this?

I'm quite new to US cars (the ones that are not exported to Europe) but the only things I was interested in at the chrysler/dodge/jeep show room was the PT and the charger as my car and the magnum for the wife to drive, the rest were quite 'same same' and definately didn't have the build quality of vokswagen ect, or even the gadgets and nice feel mazda or honda

I quite dislike the 300 series cars but the Magnum was love at first site for me. But thats how it works I live in California and I hardly ever see them on the road. Same thing with the Crossfire. I love unique cars but that doesn't always mean they will be a hit.

When I was buying my cruiser I asked them what the top sellers at their dealership were and they replied the mini vans and the PT Cruisers. (They didn't have magnums but they did have Crossfires, Jeeps and 300's) That surprised me because it was the "Huntington Beach Chrysler Jeep" dealership and they had very few cruisers on the lot about only 10.

So which one of you drives the Magnum?

Sorry but Crossfire are crap, probably why they didn't sell well. 30K+ under powered and overpriced compared to like models.

Magnums are sweet, but the "wanna be rich" drive 300's, because you can put 22" wheels and a Bentley grille on from factory, maybe way they are popular. Although you can't beat the Hemi engines.

Here is my friend's magnum with 24" wheels and many many other mods... I always thought of it as a longer bigger PT.
