1963 Grand Prix

Bought it from a Navy widow after her hubby got shot down over 'Nam,
it was his pride and joy and I kept it as clean as he did.
Sold it to a friend who still has it and it still looks and rides cherry.

Cool Re: First car..

1970 Javelin

Bought it from a dealership for $1500 bucks used in 74 but was $2200 new. Had 72000 miles on it due to 60 year old man driving from Edgewood MD to Washington DC about 60 miles one way to work everyday. Gas was 36 cents per gallon at the time.

I fixed it up and painted/airbrushed an flying eagle across the hood and stripes down the side. Stood out like a sore thumb!LOL

soonercruiser and Johnssteelblue, I SWEAR I'm not copying you guys, BUT:

first car? an old 1962 Ford Falcon, sorta white w/a red interior..... great car for a teenaged driver, 'cause that thing NEVER got above 40mph. Kept me off the highways those first dangerous-driver years! When it died, next up was:

second car? an almost-as-old 1963 Corvair, red w/a black interior. The engine was, in parts, literally held in the car by the judicious use of old wire coat hangers --- always kept a supply of 'em plus pliers and wirecutters in the car, for those fun little moments like when the battery mounts rusted out in mid-drive. But a workhorse: she kept chugging until a jerk in a delivery truck smashed her while she was parked in our driveway. Next was another oldie-but goodie:

third car? another used car, a 1969 VW Beetle. Drove that rascal until it was 22 years old, and only sold it then 'cause my job was sending me out of the country.

Fond memories of all three of 'em.
