Default woohoo :)

Just wanted to share.. I mentioned in another post that my hubby (Jeremy) is going through cancer treatments, and they were a little worried because he was shaking uncontrollably occasionally so they did a CT scan and we were a little worried, but we got the results yesterday and it came up clear

Great news. Prayers and thoughts are with him. Diagnosed with prostrate cancer myself about a year ago. Underwent treatment and last check I was completely free.

That's really good news. I'm new here but my prayers are with you and your husband. Cancer is a scary thing and it effects so many people these days. I know what you are going through, my mother passed away as a result of cancer about 2 years ago, she was 48 years old.

That's awesome. (that you are beating it!!!) We always figured we would face Prostate cancer eventually because most of the men in Jeremy's family have had it.. but we never expected to face cancer at this young of age.. Jer is only 28 years old... .

He was diagnosed with stage III metastic melanoma in June of last year. It's been a crazy year. We had our second baby in April of last year, then found out about the cancer.. it went from "oh we can just cut the mole off" to, oh, it's in the lymph nodes.. and our entire world just was flipped upside down. He underwent surgery where they removed about 5 inch diameter hole in his calf where the original mole was, then they removed lymph nodes in his groin where cancer had spread.. (I've got pics of the hole in his leg if anyone is in to gore.. hahaha)

Then he went through radiation treatment (BAD idea for melanoma patients, please please please consult another doc if ever diagnosed with melanoma and they suggest radiation), then was about to do interferon treatment (another bad idea, imo for this type of cancer), when they told us they thought it had spread again to the right groin (it was originally in the left)... and was also still in the left side.

We at that point sought a second opinion.. found an amazing doctor who accepted him into a trial (a higher up trial that's been through two phases I believe).. that involves a vaccine, stuff called GM and stuff called interleukin-2.. but before the trial he had to have yet another surgery. They took out a ton more lymph nodes (including one that was the size of a walnut or bigger).. they also found out the other doc was WRONG and it hadn't spread to the right side.

He started his trial 4 28-day cycles ago.. he continues for 2 years..so he has about 16 months left.. it's a long road, but as far as cancer treatments go it's a pretty easy one. It's really only 4 days out of the cycle that he feels like he has the flu.. the rest of the time he's pretty good.

He had his first PET since the surgery about a month ago and all and he's still cancer free!!! We have to go back for a PET every three months.

Sorry for the HUGE post.. but remember this the next time you don't want to put on sunscreen

Thanks for all the prayers, we def appreciate them!!

That's great. I'm glad he's doing okay and can only hope and pray he only gets better. We all take these kind of things for granted until it really happens. Scary stuff indeed!

Let him know that we at the forums wish him well in his treatment and recovery!
