Enjoy the 9 months of snow & rain on a Moped.
Don't forget about the 2 months of hot & humid.
With weather too nasty to show up to work in a suit & tie on a moped, it's not going to be a viable option.

I'm also pretty sure that grocery shopping and night clubbing won't work well on 2 wheels.

The PT will work when you work. That's the definition of PT: Personal Transportation.

That might be something I want to check into. I'm doing house moving right now. Before that liquid manure injection. I'm alternating between the two jobs as the slow periods for each are almost opposite. I'm one of the lucky guys that doesn't have to have a suit and tie job, and with 12-14 hour days as the norm, night clubbing is just out of the question. Besides, that lets me enjoy the PT on weekends. I had been looking at a bicycle motor, but that just didn't have the speed I need.

Do you know if you can run it at 45mph all day? I have to commute between 30-45 miles one way each day.

I'd love to buy one of these, for the nice nights/days just to drive around and not worry about the heavy gas prices. It wouldn't be my everyday commuter as I have to drive 60miles round trip from home to work.

If I had the money, I'd invest in one for sure.

I had a motorbike for 1 summer than sold it. I got rained on and soaked all spring and summer. I never felt safe. I had to change at work and lug a helmet around. Everything had to fit in a napsack. It was just not practical.

Have you considered getting a Kymco made scooter. Everything I've found on them lately touts their extremely reliablility. They have a 50cc version & plenty of dealerships in the US that can supply parts.
Just as a matter of personal preference, it would probably be wise to go ahead & take a qualified Motorcycle Course & get a MC licence endorsement, you will learn valuable life saving info, plus you won't be limited by the 50cc limitation.
I put 30K in a year & a half on an '83 Honda 650 Silverwing. Loved every minute of it from rain or sleet & cold or heat, I was riding. Incliment weather isn't a problem if your prepared for it. It was 28 degrees out when she died on me, cooling fan was mounted to the crankshaft & flew apart whent through the radiator & soaked me. That was a cold day for sure, but I lived

Do you know (or care) it's Chinese?
Where do you go that a top speed of 45 is adequate?
I had 2 motorcycles Waay back, and vowed near again in the NorthEast US.
In summer you get thunderstorms, the rest of the year you freeze and have to watch for frozen water, and year-round you have all those 2-ton behemoths driven by ditzy soccer-moms, now gabbing on cell phones.
I consider myself lucky to have lived thru the experience.
Think it thru. I'd buy a used manual-tranny econobox if I were you.

Just remember you are protected by NOTHING if you get hit on that chinese toy bike. If you have ever rode a cruiser bike you know people don't look for you and that little thing is just saying hospital, broken bones or even worse. And those little rubber bands...I mean tires, not much there for fast braking and you will be saying colorful words. Now if everyone rode one that would be a different story. Just think about your safety first
