This is what you can get for $500 in the UK if you can bear the fuel costs...
Luxury lowrider that will gobble up the miles for less than a lowerider pedal bike! It's a 1995 E class (E420) estate (I think) with the 4.0 or 5.0 V8 so no one wants to buy them in the UK, they get traded in and most end up in junk yards. The guy I know works in service dept at a merc dealership and is part of the UK lowerider scene (the cheap and cheerfull end, not the $100K imapala end!) and half the cars you see at the meets were supplied by 'big perm motors' He got the car for $400 and spent $60 on the wood effedt and chrome strip, the other $40 was for the moonies hub caps for e-bay and the white walls are std tyres just painted, he cut 3" off the front springs and bend the self leveling arm on the rear (hydro suspension on these puppies in the rear as standard) to bring the back end down.

It's a Mercedes...I would drive it, lol.
I personally don't like the whole woody thing but the wheels look good on the car.

neat ride. And with the gas prices here in the states, probably the forecast of things to come here. Every corner around here has a 4x4 or big suv sitting for sale.

I'm used to paying $9 a gallon in the UK, my 4.0 v8 did 19/gal and cost me $75 a week to run. Over here I could get something stupid that only gets 10 - 12/gal and my 150 miles to work and back per week would only cost me $70... Bring on the big car price crash

Yeah I don't know what driving is like in IL or in the UK. But there isn't anything in Texas that's just down the street. I'm already spending nearly $70 a week in gas just for my PT.
But yeah if I have any spare cash, when they start giving them away, I'm gonna buy me a nice 4X4 for a dirt toy.
