Default Winter mods

Well you may recall I showed some pics of my Corolla a few weeks back...as you may recall, I have been fixing it up....new taillight, new hubcap, 2 new front tire, interior shampooing, pinstriping, and paint...well now for the past number of days, I have been redoing the rust repairs....my dad is a retired bodyman and I bought some paint, bondo, sandpaper, rust inhibitor primer/sealant, and borrowed my dads grinder and went full storm on all the rusty, bubbly spots...I know it is a winter car, but I decided I wanted it to look the best possible.....its really looking good. I'll post the finished result in the next day or two. My neighbor came out today as I was working on it and said"Is it really worth it?" To me it is. I really don't care if he thinks I am wasting my time, because to me it is worth it. I enjoy it, and there are worse things I could be doing. I wish people could keep their opinions /judgements to themselves.

To us car people, anything we own and drive is worth the effort and they'll always be others who don't understand. Look around at the high price BMW's, Caddy's hughmongus SUV's and take a look at there wheels. That's how I can tell what kind of people they are. Some have the brake dust so black on the wheels it makes me feel awful. They could care less as long as others see them driving around in their status symbol.

Dang...his comment really got you upset. Don't worry about it! That Corolla is definitely worth it....I bet it gets better gas mileage than any of your neighbor's car(s)!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, If you are like me you were doing it for the experience, to challenge yourself, and because you were bored. Given those factors I would say is was well worth it. Btw Nice job, it looks brand new, how did you blend the paint so well?

IMHO that is the way to paint. Many people figure that they will do it in one coat then wonder why it "sags or runs" and wind up sanding and having to repeat the process over again.
