My wife drives the freeway a lot and, at times, is too close to vehicles in fromt of her. The rock chips are so bad that I cringe when I see them when washing her car. Her '04 is Graphite in color and the chips really show. She also has chips in her windshield. I had chips on the silver '01 PT and on my '03 GT. I had to replace the windshield on the '03.

Living out in the country I see a lot of people driving big pickups and SUVs driving 10 mph under the limit to save on gas their guzzlers love to use. This becomes really dangerous when cars line up behind the idiot driving too slow because then you have to deal with other people who like to pass no matter what. Makes it dangerous for everybody. I've seen news reports on people who take hypermiling to the third degree and they are down right dangerous. They care nothing about infringing on the driving rights of others.

If they are in the correct lane (right lane) how is that dangerous? If you're going 75 in 70 and you're exit is comming up and you want to get over real quick, that's your fault - 1 for waiting til the last second to get over, and another for speeding. If I am going 60-65 on the interstate I am entitled too. How is that at all dangerous? Slowing down 5mph is the foot off the gas and coasting to the leading person's speed. It's not just your freeway. In Michigan they have Minimum speed limit signs along with the Speed Limit, and I feel safe as long as I am above the minimum and below the maximum speed limit.

You pass to the left - drive on the right, unless you're a fool.

How is it my fault some D-bag wants to pass because he can't stand to do 5mph under the posted speed limit?

I think we're talking 10 miles under the limit when the offending driver is on a two lane road or IN the left (passing lane. There are so many frustrated drivers here that the word was passed to ticket drivers impeding the normal flow of traffic.

: to interfere with or slow the progress of

It doesn't matter what the minimum speed is, if your 10 under and there's a line of traffic behind you that can't pass safely, you can be cited.

I don't know why I am taking this personally. I only drive the way I do when it's safe to do so. If it's a 2 lane highway I will do the speed limit or greater. If its an open highway I'll do whatever I feel.

Ron, please don't take it personally. I just happen to post right after you did and felt the need to pass on the law as it pertains to the area where I am. Laws may and probably do differ where you live.

If you want to drive in the right lane, drive behind big semi's and ding the crap out of your car that's your choice. I'm talking about the idiots who do it on a two lane country highway and the idiots who do it everywhere and hold up traffic. You'd better have thick skin because the crazies out there will let you know their feelings about it. It doesn't matter what you are entitled to do when people out there get just as upset when you don't go faster than the speed limit let alone drive below it. For myself, I'll just go around you. The funny thing is, even with my little high horsepower hotrod, I'll still get better mpg than you will. The PT is a poor car to hypermile in. My buddy, who lives in the desert in central Oregon, hypermiles in his Aveo. But, he does it where there is very little traffic. He's up to 45 mpg and is shooting for 50 mpg.

That's a good thing. Please don't take it personal. My frustration is in the people who do it on the two lane roads where I live.

I know that speeding is one of the biggest causes of accident but man I can tell you some thing you already know

if you are doing like 55 on a 2 lane road and you go over the top of a good size hill and as you are coming over the peak you see a car doing like 45 in your lane there is no way that is a good thing a split second is not a lot of time to decide ditch or other lane(and hope for all their is that no one is in that lane)

How can a car be a "poor car" to hypermile? Just wondering.
