Default Anyone have Nextel Cellular Service?

I just signed up with Nextel, mainly for the Direct Connect feature. It is nice to be able to talk direct to family and friends who also have the service.

FWIW, I will post my Direct Connect number here. Others feel free to post yor private id (direct connect #)if you have the service and don't mind getting "alerts" from other forum members.

I have posted first name, location and private ID. Anyone else wanting to add to the list, please quote the line with that info and add yours, so it will take the form of a list.

I added unlimited Direct Connect to my plan, so there is no concern for time spent on "on the air". If you choose to add yourself to the list, please make a note if you have limited Direct Connect minutes.

I don't know if this will be a viable way to keep up with others, or to share info, ask questions needing imediate response (as in middle of an installation) or putting together "spur of the moment" gatherings... But it looks like it is worth a shot, and is getting to the point of fairly good nation wide coverage.

(BTW, I don't work for them, just this seems it may work for us)

Here Goes:

David - Brunswick, GA 150*1163*83 Unlimited Direct Connect

Have had Nextel for about three years now. Do like the direct connect especially now that it is nationwide. Live in NC and have spoken via direct connect th Washington DC as well as Orlando Fl. Great reception.
Looked at your info and see you have the Sirius satelite. I just added the Jensen Sirius system about two weeks ago. Great music and lots of channels to choose from.[)]

Just dumped Nextel. They don't take care of their long termers. Couldn't blast a phone deal out of them, and since all 4 family members have phones, they wouldn't blend 4 party plan for non-commertial service!

Too rigid, and out of date phones![V]

The direct connect shuts off between transponder zones, and in L.A. anywhere near a major freeway intersection you cannot get a connection (I think that they use some extra bandwidth within their purchased area, and there isn't enough room if a croud gathers).

Saved about $150.00 per month in the switch.[?]

Never have considered Nextel because where we live in the Pacific Northwest Verizon has the best coverage/service. Good service, high-tech phones, outstanding coverage for our area make Verizon a real winner for us!
