Default Progressive MyRate?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

MyRate Program - Safe Drivers Can Save Money on Auto Insurance

I've been with Allstate for two years and my insurance renewal is coming up next month and am considering giving this a try. I was quoted about $25 less than the $133 per month than I am currently paying Allstate.

I consider myself an excellent driver and it looks like this might be something for me, just wondering if anyone else has plugged the device into their car and saved money... (No, I'm not switching to Geico, they are actually higher than Allstate and Progressive on quotes)

Oh... by excellent I mean 1 BS speeding ticket (42 in a 35) that I got 3 1/2 years ago. Other than that, flawless driving record.

Thanks for any comments.

I've looked at some of those less expensive policies but have wondered what basic services included in my American Family policy would not be included in a less expensive policy. Or how much of a hassle would I go though if I had a claim. If you get another ticket, will the new insurance company treat you the same way Allstate did? Or will they raise your rate more that Allstate did? Maybe you won't get a ticket but you have an accident and it's decided its your fault, then what, insurance cancelled?

Their is more to think about than just $25 less a month!

Thanks for the comments... still unsure if I am going to switch... haven't had any problems with Allstate so far but I do know that their renewal quote included the ticket I got 3 1/2 years ago... I was under the impression that after 3 years it should drop off (and they even ask you if you'd had violations in the last 3 years when you apply)

Pulled my MVR the other day to confirm and while the ticket was still listed it showed me as having 0 points on my license, therefore I think it shouldn't still be counted against me.

Call Allstate and ask them about it. It might just be an error in inputing info.

Cool Re: Progressive MyRate?

My 2 cents......??
Ask Allstate to match it!
Otherwise, why would you gamble away a long, clean driving record with a solid, reputable company?

That's what I most likely will do... I'm coming up on the "loyalty" discounts for having been with Allstate for a while and I really don't feel like dropping them... I have no issues other than they are including my 3 1/2 year old speeding ticket in their renewal quote.

And I don't really buy into a device plugged into the diagnostic port monitoring my driving habits.

How long a ticket can be counted against you is set by the state, in CA its 3 years and it has to be removed for most normal tickets, DUI and a other major felony stuff can stay much longer. So find out what GA's law is and tell Allstate to clean it up and rerate you.. If its an error you can also get on the DMV to clean it as well.

Me personally after having progressive for years and there change to "all in one" shops I left cause I wanted my own shops to do the work. Also since the closest shop they had near me was almost an hour from me in traffic yeah no.. I like to drop in unannounced to bodyshops see what they are doing. Customer service was a joke and adjusters didn't have a clue about custom parts that were written into the policy.. So they didn't get replaced and they also missed major problems like busted and leaking radiators after an accident..

Have State Farm now, the way they handled an accident my boyfriend had was much better. And State Farm was covering the damage since it was their client that hit my boyfriend. They just paid it no questions no BS PTeazer rear bumper - "just order what you had, we will cut the check". They did.. We switched.

It can also differ by state what your customer service is like in person, in CA it was crap you may have better luck. On the phone is luck of the draw.
