I saw three at the dealership. $36 - $40,000! I hope these are on the top-end.

Very nicely executed truck inside and out. Lots of plastic, though. I just love how marketing equates raw plastic with "rugged". Chevy Avalanche started it... until Bob Lutz said 'that's stupid' and added paint.

Actually, I had an '87 Accord DX with raw black bumpers, so it's not new. Then again, I guess it is. The DX cost less with the low-end bumpers. Now it costs more to have less. Next suggestion: Ditch the traditional, boring seats and do some Eddie Bauer lawn chairs with elastic cup/mug/thermos/Fosters holders. Now that's livin'. Right?

Never overestimate the intelligence of the general public. Rock on OEMs [?]

Articles say Ford spent close to 2 BILLION on this truck. Is that for the R&D or R&D + the flexi assembly line?

The F150 is the largest selling vehicle of any kind - car, Suv, etc - ON THE PLANET.

I just don't get the whole pickup thing. Nothing I want to haul do I want exposed to theft, wind, or rain/snow. I could see if I had a farm and wanted a few bales of hay to the lower 40.. but most pickups I see I don't think ever carry anything. What I do haul - furniture, lumber - I stuff in the back of the minivan with the seats out.

I must be un-American.[:I]

The way I see it, if I need a "truck", I'll go down to Enterprise Rent-a-Car, use it for the day, then drop it off and forget it. I've done this before and it works just fine. PLUS I don't have to worry about:

1. Parking

2. Fuel Costs

3. Depreciation

People who own trucks just get HAMMERED on depreciation.

Wonder if the average person even knows they can rent a truck - or an SUV - for the weekend? Better yet, the next time someone you know wants to catch the truckin' wave, be a brave citizen and suggest they rent one for several days and see if image accomodates reality.

It's cheaper to drop $200 on that test ride than be taken [u]for</u> a ride.

HAHA...K-Car...now there was a prize!

I just traded in my 02 F150 on a Cruiser and I'm really glad I did. It served it's purpose...it was fun...but it was time to move on.
