Default Cap and Trade

This TAX and spend (otherwise known as Cap and Trade) bill has got to be stopped. I've read hundreds of pages in this bill and believe me, it'll cost you and me a lot more than the media tells us. The bill was at just under 1100 pages; but in the last few days has jumped to over 1400 with everyone adding their wasted spending, thinking it'll pass and no one will notice. Sad thing is, most of our Senators have not read the bill and Pelosi says she will not give it the five-days Pres said he do in his campaign speeches. Well, he hasn't done that for anything.

Do you realize? If it passes, you cannot sell your house unless it meets all the government requirements of code's: all windows must meet leakage tests, all light bulbs must be low-power and low consumption, your AC/heat unit must be of a certain SEER rating, etc... Meaning a government inspector will have to come to your house and approve it sellable (for a fee of course). If it doesn't, then you must update it (at your cost of course) and fined per day that you don't. Oh, and same for your car - but will be judged by MPG, if it doesn't meet the minimum and you can't modify to - you can't sell it or even give it away, you're stuck. It will raise the cost of every single product and service in this country.

Your utility bill will go up an average of $1200 a year to more than $3400 a year by 2014. Gas will go up as much as 54%. Coal, up 300%. Natural gas, up 75%. An oil change for your car - up 300%. You'll be asked to cut your energy consumption by 30% (but charged more) - monitors put on your electric meter and fined for not. Ipod or cellphone charger? Can't leave it plugged in.

So, who benefits? The environment 'might', MIGHT, by about an inch on a scale of 10 light-years. Who else? Al Gore and his carbon machine. And another hook in the American public's mouth by those that think they know best for all of us.

What is wrong with these people? If you don't want so much government control over your life that you have to think before turning on the light in the closet (have I reached my energy quota for the day?); call or write your Senator and tell them to vote NO on Cap and Trade.

Default Re: News update...

According to a Reuters report on Friday, the Senate has canceled all legislative hearings on the Pelosi energy tax legislation and will not hold a committee vote on the bill this summer. Also, Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman Barbara Boxer pointedly "did not guarantee Congress will be able to finish a bill and deliver it to Obama by December."

Someone finally listened to the people. Just so they don't try to sneak in a vote.
