Many times the LEO doesn't come to the hearing.

Like I said, I could give a rat's about the $100, it's the fact that it's a 3 point violation that's going to cost me in the long run.

I've got my MVR right here that I pulled a couple a few weeks back when I renewed my license. It just lists the date, place, and points (2) but doesn't say the actual mph but 2 points is 10 or less I believe.

Anyway... court date is Oct. 6th so I've got 2 months to decide.

Yep.. I'm gonna stop, turn off the car, walk to the front bumper and dance a jig while mooning the cop that is camping my residential area.

Doing his job? Sure he was... doesn't mean he's right. He says I didn't stop, I say I did... who's the judge gonna believe? The LEO or the habitual violator who has had 1 violation in 16 years of driving?

What's frustrating and dangerous is the people driving on the Interstate at 90 mph, not the guy pulling onto a deserted highway at 6am on his way to work.
Evidently, you are not totally stopping or you wouldn't have gotten a ticket. Doesn't really matter if it was early morning. The cops are looking for people who cut corners when nobody is around. Most of the the people who are doing the stutter stop or California roll in the early morning are doing it at all times of the day. Oh well, we have all gotten what we consider BS tickets so just chalk it up as a lesson learned. Just remember that early in the morning or late at night cops have nothing better to do than give tickets for something you might get away with during the day because there is more traffic.

Yeah, we've all gotten BS tickets.

What is the definition of "stop" anyway? All 4 wheels not turning for 0.05 seconds? 2 seconds? 5 seconds?

Blah... I stopped... maybe not as long as he would have liked, but my car wasn't moving.

I wouldn't be so mad if I wasn't one of the people that actually made an effort to drive safe and not kill myself or someone else...

Anyway, will post back in 2 months with the outcome.

A cop once told me to stop, count to two and then proceed. It's worked for me.

Those were my same thoughts, exactly. We tend to hate cops when they bust us, but adore them when they save us I've been hated for doing my job so many times, but I don't give **** if they get mad at me...I'm getting PAID! They get over it.

To keep the story short, just obey the law..

It's all about revenue. That's why you got a ticket. No safety issue - just revenue.

Yeah I think so... I mean, does that cop really care if I blow thru a stop sign and kill someone? Nope.. he was just trying to get a head start on the August revenue.

I've never done a 4 second stop, and have never seen one done either.

You've never driven in Florida.

I can't speak for other areas but there is no quota in my county and most deputies that I speak to would just as soon give a warning as a citation. A lot depends on circumstances. If it's a bad area for crashes, if calls come in to the department from that particular neighborhood asking for surveillance, the drivers attitude and driving record all play a part in the outcome.

Yeah I wouldn't think there would be a quota but you just have to wonder sometimes...

1) Nice high class neighborhood

2) 50 mph speed limit road where I've never seen a crash occur

3) My attitude was nice... I said "Ok" after he said I rolled the sign.. no argument, no attitude

4) He spent 15 mins at his car so I can only assume he was pulling my record... in which case the 2005 violation may have shown up (It was still on my MRV but I think points drop off after 3 years) so I should have had either 0 or 2 points

In short, he could have been nice and gave a warning because there are people out there with far worse driving records than me... he gave me a ticket because he wanted to.

As said, his town is part of a cluster of small towns right outside of Savannah... guys here at work said if you get pulled over in Bloomingdale, Pooler or Port Wentworth you might as well hang it up because you will get a ticket.

I'd have to agree.

As far as revenue, why else would a cop from one of those towns be on I-95? I can think of no other reason. They've all got their 1-2 mile section of the Interstate that goes thru their "city limits" so they all camp it for the speeding tickets.
