Fiat 500 to test Chrysler
Chrysler Canada Inc. plans to begin selling the Fiat 500 subcompact in early 2011, providing an early test of how the alliance between the two auto makers will address the most glaring problem at the No. 3 Detroit company: the collapse in sales of its passenger cars.
I wonder if it will be the Fiat 500 Abarth SS -- 160 bhp (or more) mini bomb!!!
197bhp Fiat 500 Abarth
A more powerful version of the Fiat 500 Abarth Esseesse has been launched by tuning firm Karl Schnorr Kraftfahrzeuge. The firm has added several striking visual additions, including extra red racing stripes and 17-inch OZ alloy wheels, which are made from aluminium.
A special coilover kit has also been added, which lowers the car’s ride height by “a few millimetres” and ensures better road holding.
Two power upgrade kits are also offered; phase one boosts power to by 28bhp over the standard car, which has 157bhp. Torque is also boosted with this kit by 33lb ft to 203lb ft.
The phase two kit further increases the power to 197bhp. It does this with the addition of a new turbocharger and sports exhaust system, although no torque figures for this package have been confirmed.
Prices for the phase kit start at 950 euro (£830) and rise to 5050 euro (£4415) for the phase two kit.
