Default Windows 7

So who picked it up?

I'll admit I did, and it's incredible.

My system was new in Sept. '07 (AMD dual core 5600+ @ 2.8 Ghz, 2gb ram, 256mb Nvidia 8600GT) and while I liked Vista at first I grew to hate it over time due to the fact it's a resource hog.

My system ran slow, was slow to load programs and multi-tasking often led to problems... so I dropped $120 on the Win7 upgrade the other night, backed up my data, wiped the harddrive and installed it.

I'm in love... or shall I say my PC is. From bootup to shutdown and everything in between, the PC is a LOT faster. I can click on Word or Excel and they will load the instant I click the icon. It's using about 35% less resources than Vista did and it's definitely noticeable.

It's full of new tweaks and it's a bit easier to access things now IMHO. The UAC from Vista has also been tweaked and there are now much less annoying popups.

It's basically an upgraded Vista and it's what Vista should have been to begin with... at any rate, IMHO Vista was NOT a worthy successor to XP, but Windows 7 is.

I've had a different experience. I have a 64-bit system that's beefed up for video editing. So I picked up the W7 Ultimate for a bit over $200.

I am absolutely thrilled with it! While I already booted up faster and multi-tasked well (I have an AMD quad core chip with 4GB of ram), I didn't notice that much difference. But when I render my video projects, my computer kicks into hyperdrive! This new 64-bit OS takes full advantage of the chipset . Plus, my 64-bit version of Photoshop is lovin' life in the fast lane! This version of W7 also comes with a 64-bit IE browser, and there's is no comparison in speed. It's almost like the 'net is already on my computer -- blazing! So far, so good, no crashes, no bugs.

Me three!
I usually don't upgrade the Op System, until I'm ready to get a new computer! I keep it simple - especially as far as having to upgrade a lot of software.

I have a desktop with XP and a laptop with Vista, I went to get Windows 7 and it was highly suggested I get a full install, but it would only work on one computer and I would have to buy another for the other one. Guess I'll just continue with what I have.

I think Vista was the modern equivalent of ME from a few years back. Now that was a disaster
