Default pop ups= insanity

Why do I get these pop up ads constantly coming up on my screen? I bet I click out at least 3 while I'm typing this. what can be done about them? Before I get my sledge hammer and crush this box to bits. Gary

I use a pop up stopper. Here is one to download it's only $15. Is it worth that much to stop the insanity?

Google has a Toolbar with a popup blocker that works really well. I've been using it for a while now and the best part is it's free.[?]

Gary is it the grey box type on your screen? its windows messaging service, it an easy fix ill look for the instructions on the net for you.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/55/29121.html

The best, and easiest way is to disable the messenger service under

start/settings/control panel/administrative tools/services

then find the "messenger" service, right click it and select properties. Then click on "Stop" to stop the service and then change the "start-up type" to "disabled".

Sad to say / NO. I need to get my web master over here. I have many issues I need to work through. I get on average 35 junk mails in my hot mail account. almost none in aol? My web site (where most of you e mail me) has built up over 100 e mails which I don't want to delete. But If I leave it there, I think it is taking up space. I need to take a class, but I'm too old. I use Mozilla, it's a browser similar to Internet Explorer or Netscape, but it doesnt allow pop ups. It gives you the option to let pop ups work on a certain site that you tell it to. It also has a number of features, that when you get used to it...it is very hard to use another browser. Mozilla is very free, and with some computer knowledge you can have it to many great things. www.mozilla.org let me know if this helps you at all

Gary, another possibility is that you have spyware on your computer that is causing these popup boxes to appear. Download Spybot-Search & Destroy or one of the similar products and see what you find. http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...d,22262,00.asp
It can't hurt and it might help.

Gary,
If you are getting the popups on AOL you might try upgrading to the new 9.0 optimized version (if you haven't already). The discs are available most places now. I had the same problem with the grey pop up boxes appearing all of the time. When I upgraded to 9.0 and ran the computer diagnostic it completely eliminated them.
