Pulling up in the driveway yesterday, I noticed the garage door opener motor was lopsided. I parked the car in the driveway to see if there was a problem and sure enough, there was. One of the bars connecting the unit to the ceiling had broken! I looked at the other side and noticed that side was about to break too! We've only lived here for a year and don't know if the original installers of the unit did something wonky during the install but I decided it'd be best not park the PT in the garage. I knew they were predicting possible icky weather but "they" are normally wrong. When we went to bed last night it was barely flurrying and when I woke up at 3:30am, my poor baby girl was covered in four inches of snow! Now she's covered in snowyslushygoopiness.
I'm trying to convince myself it's better than chancing the garage door opener falling on the car roof, though. Hmmm. If I backed the car in the garage and the motor fell on the hood, could I get that fancy split hood I've been coveting?

Snittykitty-
I had a garage door spring go a few days ago - hurried and put a new one up in time to beat the snow we're getting now.
I wimped out and took the day off - I don't mind driving in snow, but I can't deal with the 2 extreme types of drivers - the "chicken littles" and the SUV morons that ignore the laws of physics. Too bad I'll miss one of my favorite sites - seeing SUVs stuffed into bushes at crazy angles on the side of the road.
