I live in Western Maryland (Williamsport) We're about an hours drive to Baltimore or D.C. if I have a desire for big city thrills. BUt out here in the country the air is cleaner, less crime, people are more polite, gas is cheaper, and the scenery is prettier. Yeah I do enjoy where I live

We live in Oregon in a small town 50 miles south of Portland and about 15 miles north of Salem. Though it is growing it still has small town flavor. Does rain in the spring, fall and winter, but not as much as outsiders think. Last summer had only 2 days of rain, it was beautiful. It's very green where we live, lots of trees. Lots of creeks, streams and rivers. Love it where we live!

I live in Atlantic Beach (Jacksonville) Florida,Welcome to U.S. Navy central we have NAS Jax, and Nas Maport. Yep, its a huge Navy town run by the wonderful Southern Baptists[xx(], Also home of the worlds largest outdoor cocktail party a.k.a. The Gatorbowl [^]otherwise it's not bad, traffic kinda sucks, its 60 miles to the other side of town, so even on a good day its a 45 min drive. The Jax metro area is huge, something like 950 sq miles, Its also more like South Georgia than Florida, Huge Difference between north and south florida.
I've been here for 5 years now, it's changed alot since I moved here, I think alot of it due to The Jaguars NFL franchise, the citys been doing alot of work to improve the look of the area everytime i drive around at the beach theres some new building, or new park. They've also started running cruises out of the port, i think its just Royal Caribbean operating right now. There isnt a whole lot to do i mean aside from hanging at the beach, surfing, fishing. But it still beats living in Pennsylvania and dealing with the two seasons, Winter and Construction. As I said earlier the Baptists run this town, so the clubs are well, nothing to brag about. I work for an airline so i've been to alot of different places, Florida was my #1 pick to live in but Jax wasn't, but like everywhere else you have your pro's and con's. All in all its not a bad place to live, i mean i cant complain living 3 blocks from the ocean right ![]() Oh yeah, we're hosting the 2005 superbowl, ughhhh I will do anything to take my vacation that week lol |

I live in mostly sunny/hot Cape Coral Fl, (Fort myers, area if that helps). Watch out for the rain though, when it runs it pours. Were not talking cats and dogs but livestock. On a nice day, you have never seen anything this nice before.
Hobbies, if you like beaches, theres an island called Sanibel/Captiva and its like a 4 mile or so straight beach on both sides, in the one area. Its actually three islands in a row connected with bridges, and all beach baby, both sides. Lets not forget Spring break, hot chicks everwhere, in nothing but thongs and bikinis. But if you are a retired folk. There are many things to do here too. Afterall this town started from retireres. I happen to work for a local Elks lodge on the weekends and noticed we have alot of members. Wheater, if you have ever vacationed down here you came at the wrong time and it probably was raining. It gets hot in the summer mostly 90's. And then you get the rainy season which lasts all day rains. Other then that there is no need to use the heat in your house or PT in the winter and is a tropical climate with many plam trees. One more thing, Golf courses galore. Been here over 15 years and enjoy the sunny days most of all. Miss the cold wheater though and would like to see the snow again. I ususally go up north for christmas.

I`ve aways been in New Hampshire myself. Love this state (the Live Free or Die state)and this is were my roots are. Now that I`m retired we been thinking of being a snowbird and go out to AZ for the winters. The wife and I been out there three times, in the summer even, and love it. Even my kids think it`s a great idea as long as we have an extra bedroom or two so they can come out for awhile on their vacations. Like I`m going to give them a key to the house and all. HA !! Maybe I better get some keys to their place so WE can drop in on them when we come back !! Anyways, maybe next winter we`ll give it a try and go out there but I will always come back to NH, this is were my heart will always be.

King Cole, Oh yeh I forgot about the golf courses. I've only played once and it was on a private course White Oak Plantation. The plantation is part of the Gilman Foundation. Mr Gilman was a multi billionaire, owned the St Marys R.R. and the Gilman Paper Company. White Oak is very cool actually, its 7000 acres has its own wildlife preserve with some very rare species of animals, its own vetrinary school. Mikel Barishnakovs Dance Studio, a 9 hole private golf course, and a few very nice private guest houses. VIPs who visit jax stay there, Presidents, diplomats, rock stars. So I have to say I do really appreciate being able to go there, not many people get to.
Aside from White Oak, theres TPC Sawgrass and about 100 other courses scattered around the city. My Favorite local place to visit has to be St. Augustine, oldest city in the U.S. |
