Go to the top end and experience the lag in the speed of sound as a motorized missile blasts by you at 300MPH+.

Drag racing must be experienced in person. Find a track come Spring and findout when nitro is comin' to town. You're gonna love it []

Yep, nothing like it. I use to spend every weekend at the dragstrip, love the noise and the smell of Nitro! It's been awhile since I lasted visit a dragstrip, I think I'll take your suggestion and go this summer.

I was at Englishtown one year for the Summer Nats a while back. If my memory serves me right, Big Daddy and his Swamp Rat? blew up about half way down the track. After his forward motion stopped, what was left of the dragster (only him the motor and rear tires) ended up going the opposite way back up the track.[8)] It happend right in front of us. It was a horrific crash but he lived to race again. I can rememeber watching them rebuild and tune them all in a hour or so. Talk about a total team effort[|)] The exhaust fumes landing on my skin and hair was like someone had completely sprayed me down with hairspray. Oh and even with earplugs couldn't hear for a week[?] WoW, that was a long time ago. Haven't been back since

That smell. I have smelled some stuff like this on the dragstrip down here. It smells like vanilla coke. I don't think its the nitro but the menthenoyl fuel they use.

I too love the smell of the octane they run. I have seen cars run 1/8 mile runs at 177 miles and hour. No not 1/4 but 1/8 mile tracks.
