This is one sharp looking car!
The SLR McLaren showcases the experience of both Mercedes-Benz and its Formula 1 partner McLaren, and is powered by a hand-built 617-horsepower supercharged 5.5-liter V8, the first engine developed exclusively by Mercedes-AMG. Mercedes-Benz performance figures claim zero to 60 mph in less than 3.8 seconds, and a top speed of over 207 mph. http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/fu...age&src=future |

I think its pretty sharp looking too. During some of my earlier reading on the car it was my understanding that Mercedes usual partner (AMG)in kicking their cars up a notch was a little ticked off that they weren't given the car to do.

And all for the price of a VERY nice house. [:0]

it looks okay, but i dislike how long the front end is...looks too long to me...just my opinion, but the stats are very nice...kinda looks like a mini drag car...

There's a big article in Automobile Mag about this car. It seems Mercedes insisted that it be a front engine car but the guys at McLaren didn't particularly care for the idea so they made it a front/mid engine, which explains why the front end is so darn long. The engine actually sits behind the front axle line but in front of the passenger compartment. The McLaren boys wanted to keep the weight distribution as close to 50/50 as possible and didn't feel they could achieve that with a conventional front engine layout. There's a nice cutaway drawing of it in the mag; I'll try to scan it later and post the image if I get a chance.
Personally, I think the nose just looks too dang long. |
