I see your point, but they aren't trying to make money from your car, just the fact that they fix cars. I'd be proud, but if you really feel that way, why not stop by and either say you don't want that picture in their add, or ask for a free oil change in compensation.

Technically, no. They aren't using your likeness and the picture itself wasn't taken by you. As a "professional" business though they should have at least asked your persmission if not had you sign a release form. And they also should have masked/blurred your plate enough that it isn't legible.

Course of action depends on your relationship with their shop. Is this a place you like and want to keep using or are you okay with taking the starch out of them and trying to get a few freebies? If you give them a call and they realize when you mention it that they should have asked your permission first they *might* offer a free oil change or something but most likely if you want to get a few freebies you'll have to put on your "p.o.'d customer" hat and let 'em have it.

Personally, I'd light 'em up and see if they'll bite then just take your car to Rice's in town, they do solid work.
