about this car? Speaking for myself, I was a part of the Muscle car/hot rod generation. I got my drivers license when the ever popular Skips drive in was the hot place to hang out. At 16, I bought a 69 SS 396 Chevelle/ bored out 427 solid lifters/cam/ hurst ****er/ and the limited production 400 transmission, which GM made less than 500 units of. We would hang at skips for hours, watching Hemi Road Runners/ Challengers/ Super B's/ RT's/ Camero's/ Nova's/ other hot rides. My friend had a GTX Hemi, and could lift the front wheels off the ground. Those were the days. I remember blowing the doors off the 440 Magnum Charger and having people tell me I had flames coming from my lake pipes. My car would give you wip lash when it shifted gears, similar to a rocket experience. But those days are gone. Now, with my Cruiser, sometimes I find myself back there, even if for an instant. This car has just enough retro to relive the old times. The times when customizing a car was part of our life. Perhaps that why I'm a little obcessed about my GT Turbo. This is the first car (since my Chevelle) I ever got excited over. Maybe when my kids are older, and I'm in a wheel car, they will have their own hot car, and they will tell stories about their Dad's Cruiser. If I'm smart enough, I'll hang on to it. Gary

Gary,
"Your preaching to the quire" as they say. We wouldn't be here or even have this forum if there wasn't a passion for this car. Come to think of it, I'd be a whole lot richer if I hadn't joined all these forums and seen what could be done with out PTs. I still would have bought the car, paid the premium [xx(] and been pleased as punch to own it...but it probably would have stayed somewhat stock in appearence. ![]()

When I get in the PT to clean the inside windows and sit in the rest of the car, I feel as if Im in an old gangster mobile, like Bonnie and Clede. That is a good feeling.
My PT isn't nearly as special as CREWZIN's but to each his own, and to me it is special and my little hobby, or should I say big hobby, just got my credit card statment. [:0]

The days may be gone....but the cars aren't. You just drop the CR to 9:1 and add valve seats. I'm currently trying hard to resist the urge to get chrome headers for my baby hemi. They'll hurt performance, be noisey, be a maintainence pain, and not even be visible in the truck....but they're so purrrtty! And I saw a Hilborn stack injection using electronic injectors for only $4800.[}

I thought it was bad enough when I had my Jeep. I bought my DC2 thinking "what more do I need to do, it's decked out already?". Two days after taking delivery of the Cruiser, a catalog came in the mail. My wife just looked at me and said " you've got to be kidding". Let the games begin - again!

When I was 18 I bought my first rod, it was a 68 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 6 Pack...I loved that car, I had 2 cousins that had a 67 GTX 440 and the other had a 68 Roadrunner 383, those were the days![8)]
I've been a big Chrysler fan since then (even through the late 70's and early 80's) Finally I think Chrysler is back on track again. Sure love my PT[|)]

I had only foreign cars from my first in 1970 (1966 Porsche 912 5-speed) until I got a new '85 Dodge Caravan to replace Volvo wagon. For many years only foreign cars had engineering advances - overhead cams, fuel injection, disc brakes, independent suspension, etc., on cars I could afford. I feel American cars are now on a par worldwide, and I prefer to buy American (okay, North American).
