Default New smiles on where?

I see some guys have really unique charactures, different from the ones in the forum code. Where did you get them? One more question, for the guys who have their own websites. Was it hard to do and did it cost much? Sounds like two questions doesn't it!!!!!

Hey Gonzo. I have 4 sites to go to to choose an icon or smiley. I'll tell you one of them, but don't tell anyone else or this might happen to you....

Here it is...

One more question, for the guys who have their own websites. Was it hard to do and did it cost much?
No.

and

Not much.

OK, OK, you probably want more info than that. You want your own website, here's what you do:

1. Head over to www.godaddy.com and register a domain name (that's the www.what-ever-you-want-to-call-your-website.com thing). It'll run you $8.95/year there, or if you insist you can pay NetworkSolutions $35/yr. for the same thing. I thought so.
2. Find a hosting company. A what??? Go to www.hostsave.com where you'll get a full gigabyte of web space for $8.95/month and all the email addresses you could ever want. A gig of server space should hold almost every picture you'd ever care to share of your PT, your family, your dog/cat/parakeet/iguana/wallabee (hi Tommy!)/goldfish/hamster/horse/hermit crab/whatever, a couple of video captures of that time you cut down the big tree and crushed the barn, or that record 1/4 mile time you ran with Stage 2 and a 3" racepipe. Plus a little.
3. Now comes the tricky part. You gotta figure out how to build the website. For beginners, if you know Microsoft Word you can build an acceptable site using Microsoft FrontPage, about $165.00. If you know HTML you can clean up all the junk code FP writes. The nice thing about FP is that it has a handy dandy little "publish" feature that puts everything up to the web server of choice (refer to #2 above and make sure you selected "FrontPage Server Extensions" - which is a no cost option). Macromedia Dreamweaver is another good choice for web design (actually, it's a GREAT choice) but the learning curve is a bit higher, as is the price; about $365.00.

Yeah, that about covers it. Oh.....I suppose you could hire me to build it for you, but where's the fun in that???? This forum is about people with a "can do" attitude. Change your own oil, install your own cat/back exhaust, paint your dash, invent a better intake, publish your own website. Go on, you can do it.

crewzin,
Blindfolded myself, clicked on the link you gave me lefthanded so I wouldn't remember it, went to site, but how do you bring these icons to this forum. I'm lost. Every time you post you have these neat grafixs in your signature they crack me up. I'm easily amused as you can tell[:0]

Gonzo,

Go to the site. Pick the icon you want to bring over. Put your cursor on the picture that yo like and right click. You see a menu and hit "properties" on the bottom. That brings up another menu that tells you all about the picture. There is one line thats starts with "http" and ends with ".jpg" That is the URL address of the picture. You want to highlight that whole line and click "Ctrl C" that stores the line in memory. Come back here and go to a reply of a message or bring up a new topic in the test forum. Look around and you'll see a little box that says "pic". When you hit that "pic" it will put two sets of brackets into the reply/new forum. Now put your cursor right in the middle of the brackets and hit "Ctrl V" that will take the URL line that you saved and put it between the brackets. If you did it right, when you hit save/send, the picture will show up in your new/reply topic.

Gonzo,

There's no secret....I broke the the first switch that I took out and then by seeing what I did the second one came out a lot easier. All you need is three hands the size of a 4 year old and the patience of a saint.
