My brother is getting married in July, and he chose Hawaii as the location for him to get married....so we're going to the sunny island of Maui, and I wondered if people had any recommendatiosn on places to stay? It's so hard to judge based onthe travelocity.com reviews and other travel magazine reviews...one will say a place is great, another will say it isn't so great..
Anyone with personal experience, please let me hear it! |

Hey Bra, I live Maui. First, How much you want to spend a night? High end the Best 5 star on South Maui is #1 Fairmont Kea Lani. Means white heaven. I stayed thier a night rooms are suites living room and bedroomS, BEAUTIFUL LANI'S. Beautiful Grounds. Didn't want to leave. Marrot hotel/ time share. This is in the Wailea area south Maui. Also thier is Grand Wailea nice 700 mil to build the place. Four Seasons a bit snobby but nice, also 5 star. I live in Kihei which is south maui next to wailea, wailea is a resort area real grommed. Also on south west Maui. Their on the beach most have ocean view, but make sure you ask for ocean view not moutain, or garden. These hotels have not just swiming pools but what they call water features. To give you a idea of Wailea resort hotels have a beach walk that goes for 3 miles an fronts the nice hotels. Their are also mid of the line places, some on the beach some across street. 1/2 to 1/3 these would be in Kihei, Maui Coast Hotel in Kihei is nice for mid of the line price but you get what you pay for. West side Lahaina and up are nice places in Kahanapali. Weston,Hyatt my favorite up thier 5 Star big bucks too. Their are also condo you can rent if you want to go that way, If I was going that route try AA ocean front low cost to middle of line, should have a web site, Or Destination resorts high end but nice some of the people their are ok but they be nice just rember they want your buck, their a bit snobby also. Maui has lots of variety of places to swim and play, before moving here I've stayed south and and Lahania side have to say I like south maui. When your bro getting married? You might also go to a travel agent who has been thier some times you can get a better rate from them than if you call the hotel direct. Hope this helps[8D]

I took an airplane tour of the Grand Canyon, it was very nice, but the plane also had about 8 french students on board, and I am sure one of them had never been on a small plane before, because she was barfing the whole time...into the barf bag, of course, but it did add a bit of humour to the whole thing. I felt really bad for her though.
Stirfry, My brother is getting married in Wailea on July 19th (the day before my 2nd wedding anniversary, so we get to spend our anniversary in Hawaii!!). He is staying in Kihei, and already has his accomodations booked. We are looking at somewhere within an hour's drive of Wailea, like Ka'anapaali or Lahaina or Kihei, and that deosn't cost the big bucks to stay there. Hyatt Regency is a little out of the ballpark for me. I think I am looking at topping out around 200/night (including tax). Any more advice is welcome!

Cool, #1 Mana Kai Hotel on the beach great view call rooms have smale kit. direct or AA ocean front rents em out.
#2 Maui Coast Hotel across the street from beach but newer and nice rooms, stayed their once. Not as nice of view but nice rooms not kit. They should have a place for 150-$200 rang that should be nice. AA oceanfront or Destination resorts both should have web site with pictures of rooms an good description. Kihei is a town next to Wailea, runs along the beach 2 main roads upper highway. An south Kihei Rd. South Kihei Rd has tons of condo's along it many for rent. July not high season but still plan ahead. some people think they can get off the plan without any resevations an find a place, big mistake. Their are 101 fun things to do here. I recommed #1 ride down Haleakala on a bike 10,000 to sea level in 26 miles you don't have to ride the whole way depends on which tour you take. Go on the Alantis Submarine, goes down 120 along a live reef. Go to Hana check out the bamboo forest waterfall black sand beaches water caves exct. Go to a Lau Lau good grinds and good entertainment for the night. Marrott Lahania and Old Lahania Lua Lua the best ones. Snorkel, Snorkel, Snorkel, Get on a boat like the Navateck do a even Happy hour/dance cruise. Enjoy your stay, plan on food and drink costing 1/3 more than mainland, no one ever said Paradise was cheap. But look for coupon deals Maui weekly lots have 2 for one dinners the only way to dine. Have fun. Aloha |

Probably I said to much already, but don't forget to rent a PT cruiser
And get a good Hawaiian music CD. I Recommend "ISRAEL KAMAKAWIWO'OLE. Brada IZ for short. Awsome voice. He was so good lots of his music made it to Hollywood moves. Like the remake of the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful world. White Sandy Beach another great one. |
