Well KingKole, what do you think? Did you take yesterday off to get a digital camera? We want to help you spend your money Let us know what you end up with. You're going to be using it a lot. [?]
Actually I worked from 7-5 yesterday with no lunch break. The VP is getting her pool layed out today. So I had to tweak the last stages of it.

Thank you all for a bunch of help I probaly wouldn't have learned anything otherwise.

I will check so out a Bestbuy and CircuitCity. I had an online place setup but I may want to consider buying local. I will check out the batteries. I like my Canon 35mm and hope to get a digital one. I will also have to check out the memory add-ons.

Above all size matters. For an active youth I like my "carring electronics" small. I have a 3"L x 1.5"W x 3/4"D cellphone if that can tell you anything.

I wanted to add my 2 cents...

You may want to stick to Canon, Minolta, etc. because they are reputable camera makers. They're more expensive, but they have better lenses. I have a Canon SureShot S40 (4MP) and I love it! It has different flash scenarios (sunny, cloudy, flourescent lighting) that adjusts the flash accordingly. Also, you can take pictures in color, black & white or sepia. Another important feature to picture quality is OPTICAL zoom. Most inexpensive digital cameras only offer digital zoom (which is like zooming on object in on the computer... everything gets a little fuzzy after a while).

As far as digital camera retailers, I would suggest Ritz Camera because they offer an extended warranty that can be renewed. There are lots of things that can "break" on a digital camera and the extended warranty is well worth the money.

Good luck.

After running around to the varies stores. I have figured on buying this camera.
Olympus Stylus 400
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_...stylus400.html

BestBuy would be the best bet and they had it for 300-350.

I don't know if I should buy from them or save some money and buy from here
http://www.17photo.com/product.asp?id=225375&l=Shopping
For 280 before shipping. It won't let me know if there is shipping or not.

What, you don't want the Ferrari model!
As with anything one buys it boils down to what you think you like/want. Olympus is known for the optics so you can't go wrong. Just keep in mind this has a priority battery. You will need to buy another eventually. This are in the neighborhood of 35-40 dollars vs. AA with would run around 12 -20 dollars. Not a real biggie but you should get another battery. The 16mb card is a nice starter but again, you will need a bigger one eventually. I take a lot a nature shots so I love the 7x optical zoom. If your into anything similar the 3x may or may not make you happy. Stress, all of this is my personal opinion, yours is the important one. You chose a very nice camera and I am sure you will be thrilled with the results. Go for it. There are so many good digital cameras in this price range with similar goodies you will just drive yourself nuts trying to get the best one. You apparently saw this one, played with it, held it and so on and it seems as if this is the one. Some times you just got to go with that gut feeling and make the plunge. We all do this with everything we buy and most of the time it works out just fine. Occasionally things don't but you have 30 days to play, so play. You can take the camera back, girls/wifes are a different story.[8D]
