Default %$#@ Canadian TAX

..drives me crazy.

I bought a set of springs privately on this forum, they arrived, shipped by FedEx.

Here's my beef, today I get a bill from FedEx for the Canadian GST(7%) on the US value of the springs, plus something called a "Advancement fee", plus a separate charge for GST on the advancement fee!!

We are not talking any substantial amount of money here (21.61CAD) but the point being why do I have to give the Canadian government 7% on a private sale of a product purchased out side of Canada? It is blatant robbery at its best. They have to get there fingers in your pocket for every little thing.

Canadians are currently taxed at about 56% if you add personal income tax and 15% GST and PST on everything you buy. It may be a bit lower if you live in a shack, can't afford a car and only eat the "marked for quick sale food" (which will be taxed).

All this while the government audit just revealed a huge amount of cash funneled to advertisement agencies to advertise Canada in Canada, in fact even our national police force (RCMP) got pegged for accepting a huge amount of this "Ad" money to fly the Canadian flag at a recent Anniversary gala!!

Canada Post exec got suspended (with pay) for his part in the "Adscam", VIA Rail execs got fired, big deal, I want someone thrown in jail and the money recouped, then they could afford to give me back my $14.00 GST on those springs!

Even the current Prime Minister is being looked at, he was the finance minister at the time.

Crooks and bandits the whole lot of them!!

You live in Ontario,
Send your stuff to a freinds house in the states that is within resonable driving distance to pick up. [:I]

One of my favorite quotes about taxes (applies everywhere)

"We're lucky we don't get all the government we pay for".
