Default Slow Response

It's Sunday morning. Hope everyone is having and enjoying your weekend. My question is: Is anyone else experiencing a slow response to most of the sites on the web, or is it just my computer acting up. I'm used to instant response on my cable hook-up and most of the sites are really slow (5-10 seconds) to come up and change pages including here at CruiserLinks.

No problems in general, however, this site is slow at times.

I chatted to the Earthlink help desk and they told me to get rid of my temporary files. I did that plus most of the cookies but it's still slow. They said there nothing wrong with the server, but I sure didn't do anything to slow it down like it is, so I'm getting the feeling it's not me (I hope). Maybe it has something to do with a billion people off work for the holiday weekend and using their computers. [:I]

Jimbo,

I finally found a place locally to make me a set of drilled disks for the back..cost me $50 but looks good.

I was at our company data center from before 2PM Saturday to past 4PM Sunday - everything was powered down from 4PM to 4AM for maintenance of UPS and cooling systems. Didn't have time or opportunity to "surf".

I run "Spy Sweeper" all the time. I've run all the Norton clean-up utilities, optimized my C drive, defraged and cleaned up the disks, reset my internet settings, release and renewed my IP address, got rid of all the Temporary Internet files and wiped out all the cookies except for all the forums I visit and it's STILL slow. Might have to bite the bullet and get professional help. [xx(]

I did notice something maybe one of you can recognize. I used to have a rotating world in the upper right corner when I had ME but now with Windows XP there's a 4 color flag that waves when it's searching or going to a new page. I'm noticing that the flag waves a couple seconds, then stops, then waves again, then stops...until the page I'm requesting comes up...I don't think that's normal? [:I]

Not a big fan of XP. I have it can't get use to it. Have you defraged recently? Sometime even with cable modem things go slow I think it has to do with the volume.[:I]

Gonzo,

Yea, I defrag almost every day. Funny you should mention volume on the modem. I just went to a couple of my sites (UK Cruisers, and ptcruise) and they went as fast as can be...no hesitation. Came back here and PTForums and it's slow again? [:I] Maybe it's certain servers that are running slow and not me.
