From one extreme to another. That is the weather when you live at the base of the Sierra Mountains.

At 5pm yesterday the temp was 72 degrees. When we go up at about 6am this morning, the temp was 21 degrees. It only made it into the mid thirties today.

Same here. It was in 70's yesterday and today I don't think we ever got above freezing. That was one dramatic temperature drop. I'm COLD!

Yeah that IS pretty cool. I have never seen it grow like that except when the frost "comes out of the ground" in the Spring. But it's always where bare soil is, never on a car or other surface.

Today I dug The RATMOBILE out of yet another snow fall. Friday it was a high of 15, Saturday it snowed about 4 inches and then warmed up to about 40. Rained all night and this morning it slowly changed back over to snow and we had about another 6 inches. It's about 16 degrees now and is supposed to drop down to 2 degrees by morning. Now everything has a solid icy base under it.

While I have seen frost like that, I've never seen frost like that on a car. Amazing to look at. I usually see that type of frost after a twenty degree or so morning that includes heavy fog. Trees and long grasses look like that, cars usually are frozen with a solid layer (rather than tentacles) of ice. Very tough to scrape off.
Anyway, it was -31f here two days ago (MT). Not a lot of frost, too cold. moisture in the air is already frozen! j
